    Default NYC and Aladdin

Day trip to NYC. Got to see Aladdin on Broadway and it was soooooo good!!! the Genie and Aladdin made the show. The actor playing Jafar is the same person that voiced the animated Jafar. The tap dance number and the magic carpet scenes were my favorite.

    Anyone else been/ going??

I ate at The Cellar at Macy's - very good. A lady in line invited me to share a table since we were both alone. She was visiting from London but is from the Netherlands. Fun to talk to.

On train home now. Love NYC and Broadway!!

So glad you had a good time! We saw Aladdin in Toronto (on its way to Broadway) and it was indeed quite good.

I went to Aladdin last month and I thought it was... good. The musical numbers were definitely giant spectacles, and some of the best I've ever seen, but as a whole, I didn't think it lived up to a lot of other Broadway shows I've seen.

It was my 14th broadway show, and I'd probably rank it somewhere in the middle. Lion King, Wicked, Phantom, Book of Mormon, and The Producers I would definitely place above it. Spiderman, Shrek, and even Mary Poppins I'd put below it. I'd group it in the middle with Cinderella, Newsies, and Young Frankenstein.

I liked it better than Cinderella. I had really looked forward to that one since my favorite movie when I was a child was Lesley Ann Warren in the TV movie. The Broadway version was good- but the prince seemed to have a smirk on his face and wasn't "into" the show that night. ( it didn't help I was sitting in the front row. I prefer the mezzanine - don't really like to see the actors sweat.)

I am seeing Book of Mormon in Philly in August. I think I have seen 8 Broadway productions. My favorite was the Adams Family with Nathan Lane and BeBe Wertz ( from Cheers). My most disappointing was Billy Elliott. You are lucky to have seen so many!!

We saw it a few days before opening day in NYC, and absolutely loved it. We'd heard not so great reviews, and were very pleasantly surprised. The songs, the sets, the actors - all superb. I'm waiting for my official soundtrack to arrive in the mail.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that Aladdin is my all time fav!

Ordering the soundtrack on Amazon is on my list of to do activities today. Loved all those songs not used on the movie.

Beauty and the Beast is my all- time favorite animated movie. I have seen theBroadwayshow once in Cincinnati and once in Philly!

Saw Lion King in Cincinnati and it was good.

I think the show at AK is good - cant wait to see what happens with the show in the new area.

Mama Mia was a fun show. I think my girls saw Rent while I saw that in NYC. I like the comedy/ musical shows better than drama/tragic tales.

Wicked is good - saw it in Philly and NYC. I am not a big fan of those monkeys in The Wizard of Oz or the movie itself but Wicked was well done.

We saw it a few weeks ago. What a great show. The Genie is amazing. I'm always so impressed on what the can accomplish on such small stages.

I finally got to see the show 2 weeks ago. I loved it! It was really good. The performer for Genie was incredible (I could definitely see why he won the Tony). Really enjoyed the music (both old songs, as well as the new ones). Plus- after the show I got to meet some of the performers!

I FINALLY got the soundtrack last week- I am really enjoying listening to it. Especially the last part when they sing Disney songs not in Aladdin - fun stuff!
