    Default Military Tickets

My In-Laws are retired military, and live near a military base. Our family is going to WDW before Christmas, and they would like to buy tickets for their grandkids as Christmas presents. Can they buy tickets on base for that - or are those tickets only usable if the military ID holders are present? Thanks in advance!

I think there is some level of risk, as the military sponsor is supposed to be present. We are also retired military and when we get tickets, also buy them for our grandchildren who accompany us. I have never been asked for my ID, but I think that is a condition. I think it is unlikely but possible.

    Default Military Tickets

The Armed Forces Salute tickets can only be used if the military member is present. Upon first use, the military member will be asked to show ID.

Melanie is correct. In fact last year I forgot my military ID and had to buy a regular single day ticket because my DH was off golfing. You have to present a military ID at Guest Services to activate the card.

Thanks, folks, for the replies. Just to be clear, it would not be the Armed Forces Salute, as we are going during a blackout period. It would just be the military discounted tickets you purchase at an MWR office. If there's any risk or it's not "kosher," we can find an alternative. Just wanted to be able to let them know. Thanks again!

I have read that unlike the Armed Forces salute tickets, the regular military discount tickets can be used without the member being present. I would have your in-laws double check by calling their base ticket office.
