FP question

On a non EMH day, and without FP+, if I manage to be one of the first to the Soarin FP machine at park opening, what return time will I get? Will it make a difference how many FP+s have been issued? We are going in 3 weeks time so I assume FP+, magic bands etc will still be in the trial phase.

There's no way to know for sure what time you'll get, but you'll still get a FP. Yes, the FP+ will still be in trial during October.

As Chris mentioned there is no way to know exactly what it will be like on your trip. We are here right now and Fast Pass + has made no difference in our trip even though we are in a resort without out it.

We went to Epcot yesterday . According to the Disney app, at 10 am Fast Passes for Soarin were out to 12 /12:30ish. We were slow and didn't to the park until noon. At that point FPs were available for both Soarin and Test Track with a 5-6 slot. Of course Oct will be busier than it is now but I still don't think you will have a problem.

Usually they start about 9:45-10:00 and go from there.
