Default Lets get creative with organization!

In a few weeks we will be staying at POR, allegator bayou section for the first time since the renovation. It will be me, DH, MIL and my two boys. Normally you wouldn't hear me say anything negative about disney but I think they really dropped the ball with storage with only having one drawer now with the trundle. I don't think I should be so stressed out about where we are going to put all of our stuff! I figure I should let MIL have the drawer so where are the rest of us going to put our clothes? Im going to bring some hangers but we can't hang everything. And the room will be so crowded if we try to live out of our suitcases. So...anyone have any ideas? Also, if I ask mousekeeping for hangers how many will they give me?

If I could afford it I would just go to AOA to prevent this, but I can't. And a part of me wonders if disney's poor choice in storage was just for that reason, so people will have to pay extra to be more comfortable.

On vacation, I live out of suitcases. Never really understood unpacking everything just to pack it up again; seems like I'd be wasting a lot of time doing so.

Maybe it's cruising that did this (a cruise was the first adult vacation I went on) and its a neat idea, however you then need to find a place for the suitcases and there really wasn't.

So, now we pack light. You carry what you bring, which means were not traveling with a suitcase full of shoes. Even for longer trips (10 days plus) were usually able to get by with two large suitcases for the three of us. Carry ons are used for maybe a change of clothes and then electronics and/or valuables. Never a problem, even on the tight confines of a boat.

Can you go to target or Walmart and check out the foldable cloth type drawers? I'm not sure how flexible they are but I know they are sorta accordion shaped so you could possible squeeze them down to fit in the bottom of your luggage bags, and they have "open" type slots. Wish I could describe them better lol, I hope you know which ones I mean? If not I can find a picture somewhere and inbox it to you.

Another suggestion would be the hanging closet organizer. Similar to Tonya's it folds flat so it would be easy to travel with. and then hangs in the closet giving you 5 or 6 shelves. DS uses this at college for extra space and it works out well.

I also did some poking around and there seem to be 3 small drawers under the murphy bed, not 1 large one. Don't know if that helps.

There are three drawers, but rather small !! Storage seems to be less than before, but the room seems a bit less crowded......get those hanging cloth shelves....they have about 4 or 5 small shelf type areas to put shirts, underclothes, etc, not sure where to get them, probably one of your home improvement stores....it can hang neatly near the sinks....sorry about your situation, I cannot stand living out of the suitcase either !!!!

Love the hanging shelves idea! One for everyone should do the trick. I'm also not a big fan of living out of a suitcase and as a family of 6 there are never enough drawers or spaces to put clothes no matter where we stay. (We were at the Poly in April and I still ended up living out of my suitcase except for my sundresses so no matter the category there is never enough room). I also bring a clear over the door shoe organizer for all of our toiletries. It saves SO much space on the counters and makes life a lot easier (especially when we all have hair/skin products even DH and DS )

    Good luck!!!

I looked at some pictures and discovered the three small drawers. It also looks like if I bring two of those cloth storage boxes, that are used in the wooden cubes, that I can put those under the sinks on the shelves maybe. I could probably fit my boys clothes in those. Those hanging shelves are also a very good idea! Thanks!

I've been considering bringing the shoe organizer, but Im concerned about covering the full length mirror on the door. Im not sure if MIL would be ok with it either.

I don't cover the mirror with it I put it on the backside of the door or on the connecting door if there is one. If you bend the hooks a bit it is also possible to have it hang from the "closet" bar.

Ever since our first trip with it we bring it everywhere.

I really like the idea of the hanging drawers! I'l have to remember that for our next trip! We too, always bring our hanging shoe organizer for all those toiletries. I also always pack extra plastic hangers as there are never enough! Even with the 6 drawers at Pop, still not enough drawer space for family of 4 for 7 - 9 days, so we still live out of suitcases to some degree. So every night, we choose our outfits for the next day, hang them & them spritz with Downey Wrinkle release any items that have been scrunched in drawers or suitcase, lets us look fresh for our day!
