    Default Magic Mike

I went to see the movie today. It was OK, but definitely not what I thought it would be.

Not enough Matthew, too much "the kid", story didn't develop like I thought it would. Channing was good though.

Yeah, I can definitely say the plot was lacking...but what made up for it was the scenery!

My sister loved it for the scenery. She called giddy about it yesterday, saying I have to see it. Well, McConaughey and Channing Tatum don't really do much for me, so... not rushing off. I like a good plot and story when I watch a movie, and the whole beefcake thing doesn't appeal to me. But a lot of my women friends have seen it and loved it, so, to each her own.

Right there with you Sherri. Just not my thing either. I don't get what all the hype is about. It's like the 50 Shades of Grey thing. I need substance in my books and movies, most of the time. All I can guess is that some people lead REALLY sheltered lives.

Oh, Natalie, you do not want to get me started on 50 Shades. I will spare you my rant, and it's not about the erotic content as much as on the quality of writing. There's no telling what will be a big hit with the public. Just no telling. I wish there was. Of course, I'm jealous of the success, so... I'll stop now.

Haven't seen the movie yet but want to. Every now and then you need a good mindless movie to watch (the one where you know the plot is dumb or the acting is bad, i.e. Lifetime type movies, ha). Channing Tatum is good eye candy! I heard today that a sequel was confirmed.

Add me to the not interested group. None of those guys do it for me at all. I know people who went to a midnight premiere and loved it, but they all love Channing Tatum. And 50 shades... :shudder: I hate to say it because I know I risk offending, but it's hard not to think less of people who rave about that book. Most of my friends who read it have the same issue as Sherri. They say the writing is atrocious. For that reason, and the fact that she started out as a Twilight fanfic writer I have zero interest.

The way it ended I expected a sequel. I'm sure the movie will make enough money because it draws ladies in. I can't say I wouldn't watch the sequel, if nothing else, just for the eye candy. I forgot to mention, while I was a little disappointed in the movie I was extremely surprised to see Adam Rodriquez (Delco (sp?) on CSI: Miami) in it. He is definitely dreamy!

    Default Magic Mike...

Well I decided it was worth the $6 I paid I really wasn't into it that much but at the same time I sort of like M McCony's character-he cracks me up sometimes. Not exactly mind blowing entertainment but it was a nice way to spend a couple hours on a very hot day.

Well, there you go. Sometimes you don't want mind-blowing, you just want to have some cool fun. Glad it entertained you.

This is one I'll probably catch on satellite eventually. It's funny though the weekend it premiered I was shopping at the mall and the saleslady ws having a conversation with these two itty-bitty elderly gals. they had to be pushing 80. "What are you up today ladies?" the lady asked them. "We just came from the movies, we saw Magic Mike!" LOL

That's funny. When I went see it there was a group of ladies in their 60s/70s and there was an older couple at least in their 60s. I was surprised this older man watched the movie!

I had no desire to see it since I'm not into the beefcake thing either. But a friend wanted to go for their birthday and I have to say...for about 2 hours a few weeks ago I was into it lol!!! The eye candy is impressive! And had I know that it was filmed in Tampa (apparently I live under a rock) then I wouldve been out to Ybor more looking for Matthew M, Channing Tattum, and Matt Bommer (my favorite). Maybe when the sequel starts filming.

The eye candy was nice (I like Channing), but that 'plot' was horrible.

I don't get the 50 Shades hype either...I'm picky about my books!
