We are thinking of going back in August, our last visit was last October. What has changed since then? Anything? What kind of crowds should I expect to see August 17th-25?

A lot of the Fantasyland work has been continuing. Dumbo has moved and opened in its new location. The Fantasyland train station (formerly Toon Town station) has reopened. Snow White's Scary Adventure has closed for good. The large balloon in Downtown Disney is gone - though it is not known whether this will be a temporary or permanent departure. Art of Animation has opened two buildings.

We are veterans of the mid to late August time frame. It does get hot in the mid afternoon. Also, thunderstorms are more likely then. If you can get to the park when it opens, you'll have the park to your self for the first hour or so. We've had good luck avoiding EMH, although some people disagree.
EPCOT is tricky this year because Test Track is closed. Get your fast passes for Soarin early. Also, have you heard they are enforcing fast pass return time?
