Preferred or Premium sites
We are going to go camping at FT Wilderness and we know which loops are preferred and premium. But, when we called to make reservations, the cast member said some preferred and premium sites are mixed in the loops. Like in Loop 100, he said some sites were preferred and some were premium, but we can't find anywhere where it tells which actual sites are which. If this is as clear as mud, does anyone know the answer?

Wow, that is odd. I had always thought the Loop 100 was all premium.
Maybe the ones furthest from the Trading Post are preferred, and I would "prefer" those over the ones that back up to the pathway to the Trading Post.
It's been a couple of years since I've booked out there, and would be real interested in the answer, since Mom and Dad will be going with us next year.

I never understood campsites in the same loop to be divided amont category - it this is true, that's a change. Perhaps you should ask the question again - it they are mixed the cast member should be able to tell you which sites belong to which category.

I thought they should be able to tell us too! When I called Ft Wilderness, I got a fairly rude cast member who was older who only wanted to ask what web site I was looking at. I told her my husband was on the phone with Reservations and he was telling us they were mixed but he didn't know which sites were which. It was always OUR understanding one loop was preferred, one was premium, etc...no mixing. Sounded like maybe, just maybe, the reservation cast member may not have given us correct information.
Intercot devotees always seem to know the answers so I wanted to see what everyone thought. If I get the answer and can find out in November when we go, I will definitely post.

We just arrive at Ft Wilderness today for our second year in a row of staying in our 32ft 5th wheel. Last year we opted for the premium site and were placed in loop 1400, loved it! Tried to save $100 this year and go preferred......dumb move! They put us in loop 300 and we would NEVER have fit, let alone have any space to stretch out.
My two cents, spend the extra $ and go premium. Even if the extra amenities don't interest you, the site size and locations are worth it.
For what its worth, we went back and the cast member moved us to the premium sites in the 1200 loop and it is great! Money well spent.....

Are you able to determine if any of the loops have both preferred and premium sites or are the loops all one or the other?

From what I can tell, the loops are not integrated with both preferred and premium, but I will take a golf cart ride up to registration tomorrow morning and ask then report back. I will say this, loop 300 is definitely NOT good for larger rigs!

I went to registration this morning and was told by the cast member there that perimeter loops 100-300 are preffered. All of the inside loops are premium. Other remaining perimeter loops beyond 300 are basic and tent sites.
The quick answer that I feel comfortable saying is, NO preferred and premium sites are not in the same loop.
I will say that loops 1400 and 1200, which I have been in the last two trips, are great and have lots of space to get in and out as well as play around the campsite. Loop 300, which is what they tried putting us in this trip, was crouded and very difficult to try getting a camper of any real size in to.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify! It's the only answer that makes sense and is what I always understood. It sounds like the cast member the original poster spoke with was misinformed!

Thank you, WDWCamper!! It didn't make any sense to us either. We have a 32 ft travel trailer and the last time we camped at Ft W was a 32 ft Mobile Scout. We like to camp in 100 and 400. Some of the sites do seem a bit tight.
Thanks for all the help everyone. WDW Camper, hope you are enjoying your FT W time.

There are 4 types of sites at Fort Wilderness. Partial hook ups 1500 & 2000 - the cheapest but no sewer. Preferred # 100/200/300 up front with full hook ups but generally a little smaller, not always. Coquina in the back of the sites. Then there are Full hook ups which are out by the 1900 area of loops. Several loops there have Very large sites on some of them but coquina again in the back. I like the size of those though. A little less in price than Premiums. Then there are the premiums, which are closer in like the 400/500/600 that area and they are larger and have been widened with cement to accommodate large rigs with slides, and no coquina in the back, just a big long site. These are the most expensive, but can be what somebody needs, depending on your RV. Hope that helps.

We have camped several times at FW but this was the first time we were told the preferred and premium were combined in one loop. We didn't think that sounded right so I turned to Intercot because everyone is pretty knowledgeable. Thanks for your information, too.
