Not just alcoholic beverages, pretty much everything at the lounges, etc. Got a buck off a PB&J milkshake at the lounge attached to 50's Prime Time a while back. Not a lot, but they all add up!

After he saw the numbers, he couldn't disbute my argument anymore, not that he ever would have one anyway lol

But with TiW there's an automatic 18% gratuity on table services, which wasn't a big deal to us because that's the norm we use anyway, maybe 17% but the extra 1% didn't make us cringe and worked out much better.
OK, isn't that 18% only for certain places though, or was I mistaken???

As mentioned, it's 20% off the total bill, good at pretty much all Disney owned and operated TS locations, and CS locations where a Disney Owned and Operated TS doesn't exist. For examplle, AK doesn't really have a TS location (well, Tusker House, but that's it). So, I think Pizzafari and Flame Tree take TiW. The values don't have TS locations either, so TiW is honored at the food courts. There are a few others I think.

I'm surprised that you never considered the TiW. If it's available to you, I would seriously consider it as an option. Even if I had to pay $100 for it, it would save us tons of money. We would normally get at least a couple trips out of it through careful/creative vacation planning, and often more. Even as a table for 2, we broke even well before the end of our first trip with it.
I never considered TiW before... I actually allowed my AP to expire because I saw no more value in it (I wasn't going down the year the pass expired, couldn't justify the cost to renew without a 2 week trip, and when I went last year, it was cheaper for me to get a 4 day one park per day pass than an AP).. As a DVC member, i have used my DVC discount at a few places, but I noticed most were only taking them on certain days, like Tuesdays...

I'll look into this more, I just don't see how a fee of $100 bucks a year for something that may only be able to be used a handful of times will be worth it for me... But if it works for everyone else, great...

The counter service at POFQ also gives the discount because there is not a TS location there.

The 18% gratuity is for all table service. Counter service does not have the gratuity. Even with it I still come out ahead because we normally tip at least that much.

Nope it's 18% across the board except at V&A which is 20%. When DBF and I did the math TiW was the only one that made sense for the best discount. We did a three column spreadsheet listing all restaurants we would consider eating at, would be eating at and might eat at and TiW had the best discount. Even for the DVC discounts that offered the same discount you couldn't use it freely like like it excluded Brunch, or excluded eating at the bar at ESPN, but TiW didn't have any exclusions except for it didn't cover brunch at House of Blues, no other restrictions. DVC discount at ESPN can't be used on Sundays, etc not with TiW, could use it anytime. Check it out. And don't forget you only need one card for up to TEN people in your party. So if you go to dinner with 9 of your friends that one card and one fee counts for all 9 of you and what you all order, including alcohol (I forgot about the alcohol before ). If it works for you awesome, if not atleast you looked into the possibility on whether or not it would help you.

Just thought of a couple more benefits, if you drive instead of taking Disney transportation you get free valet parking which is nice. Also if there is one while you are there, they have special TIW events.

The final perk is free parking but it would probably not normally apply to a DVC member since you would always have that when staying on site.

The 18% is on lounges as well.

And it is 18% across the board on the TS locations, buffet, family style, plated meals, etc. I guess V&A may be different, never checked into that. Still a savings, usually I'm a huge tipper, but when you surcharge me, that's all she wrote. I've usually drawn a line through the tip field before the server has left the table. Gratuity and surcharge just don't mix...

I have another unique question regarding the TIW card. We are annual pass holders and we currently have a TIW card. Is it possible to purchase another TIW card good for an additional 13 months just before our annual pass expires? Not sure if we will purchase another annual pass for next year but we probably will take one trip to Disney and would enjoy the discount for another year!

wow, that's a very good question...I'm interested to know the answer to this as well. Because my understanding is there is know way to "track" your TiW card which is why it costs $50.00 to replace it if you lose it, atleast that's what the CM at Guest Relations told us, so I would assume it's not "tied" in association with your AP, which would cause me to assume that if you have an AP whether it's expiring in such amount of days or not might not matter...There has to be a limitation? Maybe? I really don't know.... Hmmm, interesting question...

I'm not sure why you couldn't get another TiW card. It's another $75 for Disney.

If you have more than one person with an AP, just use one of the others to get a new TiW. There is no limitation I'm aware of as to when you can get a TiW card. You should be able to get it on the first day of your AP up to and including the last day.

You probably need to be there in person though to get the TiW card. Just wanted to throw that out.

Yes but I think it has to be all on the same bill, there cannot be two separate bills. So, you could pay your portion cash or credit card and they could pay their portion cash or credit card, but it has to be on "one bill" not two separate bills. At least that's my understanding, so if anyone has an experience they know about I am sure they will come by to clarify
