So instead of hitting Savannah, my girls would rather see what Lexington is all about. We all love horses so that is the draw for us. We will be driving from Slidell LA and stopping on our way home to New York. Please give me some tips on what not to miss and where to possibly stay that is located close to it all! I love Lexington. Lived there 4 years while doing my masters and doctorate. If your girls love horses, you must go to the Kentucky Horse Park. Over 40 breeds of horses, lots of shows, some famous horses buried there as well as some champions still on show (like Cigar). Also, Keenland is worth seeing and their fall meet should be starting soon. It's an incredible venue for seeing horse racing. The place I most like to put people up was the Hilton at Lexington Green. It's in the center of everything. If you get a chance, go down to Shakertown (about 20 min away) as well.
