Mar. 20, 1959 – The Walt Disney Presents TV show aired episode 6 of “Texas John Slaughter: The Slaughter Trail.”
Mar. 20, 1964 – Beatle George Harrison escorted Disney teen star Hayley Mills (and her mother Mary Hayley Bell) to a midnight matinee charity benefit showing of the film Charade at the Regal Cinema in Henley-on-Themes.
Mar. 20, 1969 – Director and animator Elliot M. Bour was born in Philadelphia, Pa. His Disney credits include “Kronk’s New Groove,” “Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie,” “Winnie the Pooh: Spring Time with Roo,” “Mulan,” and “Pocahontas.”
Mar. 20, 1981 – The Disney film, “Amy,” starring Jenny Agutter, Barry Newman, Kathleen Nolan, Chris Robinson, Lou Fant, Margaret O”Brien, and Nonette Fabray, was released.
Mar. 20, 1984 – Actress Christy Romano, the voice of Disney’s Kim Possible, was born in Milford, Ct. (In 2002 she would become the first person ever to act in 3 Disney Channel projects at the same time, “Even Stevens,” “Cadet Kelly,” and “Kim Possible.”)
Mar. 20, 1985 – The Alpine Haus Restaurant opened in Tokyo Disneyland.
Mar. 20, 1986 – Tokyo Disneyland welcomed its 30-millionth guest.
Mar. 20, 1987 – The film, “Captain EO”, starring Michael Jackson opened in Tokyo Disneyland’s Tomorrowland. (Closed Sept. 1, 1996)
Mar. 20, 1991 – A jury in Los Angeles awarded singer Peggy Lee more than $3.8 million dollars in video cassette profits for her singing and songwriting in Disney’s animated classic “Lady and the Tramp”. A judge later reduced the award to $2.3 million. Peggy Lee was originally paid $3,500.00 for co-writing 6 songs and providing the voice for 4 characters.
Mar. 20, 1992 – The Disney/Touchstone film “Noises Off” was released.
