Dooney & Bourke 40th Anniversay Bags

I have a question for those of you who have one of these.

I'm looking at the Kristen bag--so cute. What exactly is it made of? Is it durable? My husband offered to buy me one for my upcoming graduation, but I'm on the fence.

(I'm having a hard time justifying the price. It must be the Social Worker in me.)

But it is so adorable.

I have the original Sketch Bag from 3 years ago (I think). It is made of a vinyl material and the handles are leather. Yes it is VERY durable. I, too, am a social worker and was "sick to my stomach" when my husband purchased it for me at DTD (after seeing and REALLY wanting one at MK the day before). I have a lot of purses, mostly Vera Bradley. I use them for a season, then put them in my closet and rarely ever get them out again. I LOVE my D&B Disney purse. I bring it out every summer. I am so proud to carry it! It reminds me of the Happiest Place on Earth. I am sure that you will carry it for years to come too. I think because they are so unique and hold special memories. Plus, what a great graduation gift.....congrats to you !

Question for you ladies...do any of you have the wristlet? I really want one for my park going goodies (I refuse to carry a real bag, but these are too cute), but I need to know about how big it is. Would my iPhone fit in there?

I have ! Not the zipper one- the snap one. Fits my iPhone, a clear lanyard pouch with my tickets and money, and lip gloss. Do we really need anything else?!

LOL! No, I don't think we do. Sounds about right.

I have both a zip one and a snap one, and the zip one is a bit larger, but like Christine said, the snap one is perfect for those few necessities. I honestly do feel like my belongings are a little more secure with the zip one though.

Just a note on all these Dooney bags, and Christine hopefully will comment as well. If you like the tiny dotted texture vinyl (how these bags have been since they were introduced), get them now! Christine and I discovered last night that it seems they are doing away with that and instead it will be lined texture. Not a huge difference, but noticeable for some.

I'm so excited this will work as my park bag. I used to be a pack mule, but dice the intro of bag check, I've lightened up a lot to save time. I'll have to check out the zippered ones too... I do like the idea of added security.

Christine and I discovered last night that it seems they are doing away with that and instead it will be lined texture. Not a huge difference, but noticeable for some.

Have they switched the 40th anniversary bag to the new style/type. I am going in May for a quick 24hr. trip and one of the bags is on the top of my shopping list.

Yes indeed! They are changing out the texture/ finish. I have the white sketch wristlet and weekender duffle in the original matte finish dotted style Wanted a purse too- and all I found was the shiny striped finish. So after sending Mel on a wild goose chase at MK while I searched DTD, I FINALLY found an "old" one at the GF. they only had 2 left. The ones on the hanging bar behind it were shiny. The white is brighter white too on the new ones.
I took pics and will see if the difference is visible in them. It is to me, but then I'm an odd bird who really is picky about stuff!
I'm glad I finished up my set all in the same finish.

On to finish my cruiseline set!!

I like the old style better. I hope they still have it in May. I guess that could decide which style I get. I'm torn between the messenger or the crossbody.

I got my bag for Mother's Day. I am so excited. It's navy blue with Mickey faces all over it.

I'm not positive because no one has confirmed this, but it looks like "coated cotton". This is a technique that D&B uses often. I don't have a coated cotton bag from D&B but I've seen them in the stores. When I saw these bags at Disney, they appeared similar. From what I understand, coated cotton is extremely durable. I LOVE my D&B bags!

You girls are a BAD influence. I just spent the last hour looking at these bags on the Disney Store site and on eBay.

I've narrowed down my choices. Now I just need to decide to bite the bullet and cough up more money for a purse than I have in my whole life.

They are so cute though!
