    Default Mousekeeping

Have you had something stolen from your room? DH and I have gone many times and stayed on property majority of those visits. My friend that has gone numorus times usually stays off property. She says the TWO times she stayed inside, she and her family have had something stolen. She said "they like to take small things so that you wonder if you lost them". The first time, she was at CBR where she said they stole her husband's almost empty bottle of expensive cologne. The second time was when she stayed at Poly. She said her mother had some small earrings and she didn't want them to get lost so she put them on a washcloth on the bathroom counter and when they were packing up she was looking for them and couldn't find them. While yes, I'm sure some theft goes on, but really? An almost empty cologne bottle and CZ studs? Have you had anything stolen? We haven't.

I can't ever recall having anything (large or small) stolen from the rooms at WDW...thou we are pretty careful about not leaving valuables out in the open...however, our concern isn;t mousekeeping so much as it is opportunist thieves who might slip in when mousekeepers are working.

I've never had anything "gone missing" while at any hotel while in WDW or anywhere else my travels take me. However, I always take a couple of minutes before I leave the room to stick my laptop in a drawer and any loose cash in my pocket. Other than that, I don't travel with any think anyone could consider valuable or non-replaceable.

We have never had anything stolen. We even have a cup for change on the dresser and have never noticed any money missing. We leave a tip for mousekeeping and try to be friendly when we see them in the hallways and compliment them on their efforts. I don't think they would risk their jobs for petty things.

Never! But I have heard of several tourists that have had things stolen outside of Disney.
Your attention please, the Walt Disney World Railroad is now boarding for a trip around the Magic Kingdom

I have never heard of anything being stolen/ "missing" from a room at Disney. If I don't want to bring extra cash or cc to the parks, do utilize the safe.

Never had anything stolen. We use the safe for nice jewelry and cash, etc. However, I don't think I'd ever wrap earrings (or anything else) in a washcloth. I would think that the mousekeeper would be collecting all the towels when they clean the room. It would be easy for the mousekeeper to not see the items, and have them get thrown into the laundry.

We've never had anything taken from Disney either

But, like most people, we do take a few minutes to lock up any extra cash, etc. I'm more worried about someone slipping into the room than Mousekeeping taking anything!

Never had a problem. We have always used the safe too and not traveled with items that cannot be replaced.

Mousekeeping does fantastic. We tip them each day with a decorated envelope. When we have done that ... we seem to have ended up with more "towel critters" left each day!

I agree with a previous poster...I think the earings just got taken with the dirty towels when mousekeeping was cleaning....very easy thing to do and as far as the cologne bottle...perhaps, since it was almost empty, they thought it was trash.

I have NEVER had anything stolen at WDW.

I have been lucky also. I have to agree that the examples used seem likely to be of an empty bottle in trash and overlooked items on a washcloth that would be taken to laundry each day.

.......while we do not leave cash or valuable jewelry lying out in the open......we also don't hide or lock up every little (or not so little)thing we bring. That includes computer (laptops)....liquor...cologne...etc....and we've never had anything taken.

.....I know that there are those with the mind-set of "if you leave it out...you're inviting someone to steal it".....but...I also don't want to lose total trust in others to be honest....nor do I want to feel that while on vacation....I need to act as if I'm in a maximum security prison.

I have never had anything stolen. Last trip I was missing a pair of sunglasses (not expensive ones). It was on our arrival day, just went and got another pair of sunglasses. When we were packing up on our last night, I was checking the room and found the sunglasses. They were under the table behind the pedistal legs.

We've made many trips to Disney and travel all the time to other places as well and we've never had anything stolen by mousekeeping or other housekeeping. I make it a point not to leave cash laying out unless it's the tip but other than that I don't worry about other things. I try not to leave things out that might be mistaken for trash or get in the way of their cleaning because I know they have a very limited time to clean each room. I don't think they'd risk their jobs by stealing things from guests.

Never had anything missing. We don't really have cash or jewelry that we leave in the room, but I do leave my laptop out and it's never been bothered.
