New Disney Store Times Square.

Has anyone seen an actual opening date for the store yet? All I can find are articles that say "fall 2010". I was hoping it would be open by November for some Christmas shopping.

They are saying November but no specific date in November. I am SURE that it will be open before Thanksgiving.....I would think early November!

We always stop at the store on 5th Avenue, I'm assuming they are shutting that one day, and moving to the more trendy Times Square area!!

I believe cost of rent for the 5th Avenue store was extremely high. I hope they keep the same kind of merchandise in the new store, especially the theme park merchandise, but I doubt it. This is probably be like any other Disney Store, just bigger.

Got to go to the 5th Avenue one in 2009. I'm just hoping this means that more stores will be opening back up in other parts of the country too. I would like to have one relatively close by again.

Unfortunately, I doubt that it will. The 5th Avenue store was a World of Disney store (similar to the ones in DTD Orlando and Anaheim) while this is a Disney Store (like the ones in the malls). Admittedly, it is supposed to be a new concept store, and based on some of the things they are doing for the newly opened Roosevelt Field store nearby, it will likely be a few steps above your average Disney Store.

I've recently visited the new Disney store at Roosevelt Field Mall. The location has changed to a few stores to the right to a smaller venue & to be honest was not that thrilled with it. Ok so they have an area where girls can try on princess dresses & look at themselves in the mirror, a section for boys to build/change & interchange a "car" from the movie Cars & a new area for all to sit at a table color & watch clips of movies/shows. Other than that its still the same Disney store with the same pitiful merchandise.

Ugh. Don't they know the merchandise is what makes the difference? Haven't they learned?

A new concept store is supposed to be opening very soon here in Tampa. Now I'm not so excited.

According to an offer I just received from Disney Visa, the store is supposed to open on 11/4.

We were in the Fifth Ave store right after Christmas, last year. I wasn't paying much attention to signs or anything--I mean that's when there's always a sale or something. I had picked up a few items, but didn't go crazy. My husband had a firm hand on my arm as he exited the checkout line(yes, it was quite busy) telling me it cost him under $20.....everything was 70% off...he had me and the three kids out of the store so fast!! We could have done some damage!! Transporting it home, another matter, that's probably what he was thinking!

Has anyone been to a new version of the store to confirm if it is indeed the same ole same ole merch. Also is there any chance the Times square location might have some higher end stuff like collectibles? I'm thinking since it's 2 floors of space.

I was just at Times Square 2 weeks ago and saw the new disney store construction. The door was open so of course I peeked in... it was still a major construction zone, completely empty no sign of a store at all. From what I saw it will still be weeks before it's finished -- tory

I didn't want to start a new thread on this but I was thinking, is there a list of the Disney Store remodels anywhere? Like which stores are next? Of course I'm looking for our own store to be on that list..Whitemarsh MD. I checked around the "net" but couldn't find any such schedule or list.

Hey guys I just got back from the Disney Store grande opening in NJ. I met a cast member from the Disney Store headquarters in California. We were talking for a while. Told her I was a CP cast member alumni etc......I mentioned the Disney Store in NYC and then asked her when it was opening She told me the soft opening is November 4th and the grande opening is November 9th....
From what she said (and I don't want to give anything away) you may want to go to the Grande opening.....LOTS AND LOTS OF GREAT SURPRISES!!!!!
