would you go september for free dining or a cooler month?
hello,
would many of you go to disney in september for the free dining and endure the blistering heat and humidity or pick early november or another time when the weather is more comfortable?
wife and I have our fourth trip booked for september at pop with free counter service dining but are considering postponing till early november.

September is one of my favorite times to be at Disney World. I like the heat! Crowds are a different story!

I also went in Sept a few years back & took advantage of free dining. We went around Labor Day & the weather was fantastic (not sure that will happen again). The days were hot, upper 80's but little to no humidity.
Crowds were very manageable. We did notice late at night at MK that the wait for Splash Mountain was 180 minutes, but, during the day we used the fast pass and all was fine.
I think you will be fine, but maybe want to see other replies

Our preferred time for visiting WDW is mid- to late- September. Heat and humidity are NOT major factors in our decision, neither are "free DDP" offers, we just like lower crowds and "steady" weather.
You pretty much can anticipate late September weather to be upper-80's to mid-90's, humid, with a shower in the afternoon leading to a very nice evening. Low crowd levels, great for pools/water parks and just taking your time going through the parks.
We have been there in January (chilly/warm/cold - all in one day!!) - February (2 days in the 80's, 2 days in the 50's for highs) - December (nice, but a bit cooler -- not really great time for pools/water parks -- crowds were good though and Christmas lights were excellent!)
We will NOT visit during "peak" or "holiday" seasons! Just can not and will not deal with elbow-to-elbow crowds!

i am going in september!!!the free dining is a plus...we were going anyway,as far as the blistering heat goes,i say bring it on baby!!where i live it's cold to chilly eight months of the year so i love the heat when i can get it!!
-
wow!
we have been to disney in september 4 or 5
times in september(missed last year) and found the heat and humidity to be horrible.
maybe we just picked the wrong week as I`m sure the weather begins to fluctuate in september.
we were considering late october but I guess we could easily hit a hot week then also.
are mid to late october crowds usually higher than early to mid september?
also we love to make waterparks, pools and the occasional beach a part of our trip.

We're going again in Sept, but not for free dining. Using the 40% off pin code. I love the heat, crowd levels aren't bad either.
We did late Nov last year, weather was nice, crowds were light.

I've been eager to try September at WDW but I've had kids in school for years now and haven't been able to go then. I have pulled them out in October when they were younger, but September just seemed too early. And October was pretty awesome. October and November have been our favorite times to go so far. I love the F & W Fest, even though it does increase crowds.
Now my kids are older and we've got one more big family trip planned, but it had to be August. So heat and humidity, all there. But we're all together, so that's a plus. In the future, the DH and I will be torn between trying September for lower crowds and sticking with F & W Fest times. I would add that if you dread the heat, you should stick with November because it can be pretty brutal and it makes an impact. You move a lot slower and get less done in the extreme heat.

We're going the first week of November this year (to answer your question).
We went once for free dining (last week of September), and we didn't think the money saved on dining was worth the heat and humidity. We'd rather go when the weather is more to our liking and pay a little more. We always get some kind of discount in November anyway.
The crowds in September were the lightest ever though. But, November is pretty light too.

....go for the free food...!!! it's truly a great deal....we've added up our receipts from our weekly meals there and it adds up QUICK !!

I'd rather go without the free dining. I have been in September many times, and there was a time when the heat & humidity did not bother me at all, now as I get older I'd much rather be comfortable and enjoying walking around the parks. I think my pace was slower in the heat. I remember one year it was so hot in Epcot that we went into the store at the International Gateway and coming out our chant was "just one more step"...all the way back to the Beach Club.

If you don't have to plan around the school year, I recommend early November - less crowded, nice weather. We've had mixed luck in January (one time beautiful weather, one time it dipped to 29 degrees!) Don't know if there are/will be discounts available for either of these times?
But we're from Washington DC, so the August/Sept. heat and humidity are what we'd be experiencing at home anyhow. And isn't a bad day at Disney better than a good day anywhere else?

I would not let free dining entice me to go during September. I do not enjoy the heat and high humidity. I also like to plan our trips when something special is going on. Such as F&W Festival. We loved that and are going back in 2011.

I happen to like WDW in September. The crowds are slightly less than summer and the heat and humidity is also better than mid summer. We have had to move our vacations into July, so I would much rather September!! I would go for it and free dining is a great bonus!

I would choose cooler weather over free dining, but I have a really difficult time with the high heat and humidity.
If changing your trip is an option, I would, but I don't think September is a bad time to go, if the price is right!

Now that free dining has been extended into december, you don't have to choose!!

We have been several times during August and September and will not do it anymore for now. If I was not pushing strollers....holding kids and holding a ton of gear, I would not mind it. Small kids, gear and heat don't mix well.
I would go for it!!
BTW...we go during late October or early November now. Love it!!

After the past two trips in December and January, I'd pick cooler weather over free Sept. dining any day. I don't do well in humidity (even thought I'm a born and raised Southern girl..and that's why I'm in the house in the A/C on Intercot instead of outside, too....)
