June 10, 1895 - Actress Hattie McDaniel, Tempy in Disney’s “Song of the South”, and the 1st African-American to be nominated for an Academy Award, was born in San Fernando, Ca.
June 10, 1908 – Actor Bob Cummings was born in Joplin, Missouri. In July 1955 he would help host the grand opening of Disneyland.
June 10, 1910 – Imagineer and Disney Legend Bill Evans was born in Santa Monica, Ca. He would go on to landscape Disneyland as well as consult on the landscape design of Tokyo Disneyland.
June 10, 1923 – Disney Legend Becky Fallberg was born in Los Angeles, Ca. She would join the Studios in 1942 after graduating high school and studying art for one year at Los Angeles College. Within months of joining Disney, Becky would be promoted from telephone operator to painter, working on animated training and propaganda films, including “Victory Through Air Power.” Fallberg would work her way up to manager in the Ink and Paint Dept.
June 10, 1949 – Child actor and Disney Legend Kevin Corcora was born in Santa Monica, Ca. His live-action Disney credits include “Old Yeller,” “The Shaggy Dog,” “Toby Tyler, or Ten Weeks with the Circus,” and “Pollyanna.”
June 10, 1953 – Disney producer Harry Tytle was called into Walt’s office. Animator Chuck Jones at Warner Brothers has called applying for a job and Walt wants Tytle’s opinion. (Jones would work for Disney for just 4 months starting July 13th.)
June 10, 1955 – Disney re-released the Goofy short “El Gaucho Goofy.”
June 10, 1958 – The Disney film “Wales” was released.
June 10, 1960 – The Disneyland attraction “Pack Mules Through Nature’s Wonderland” opened to guests in Frontierland.
June 10, 1988 – The Disney/Touchstone film “Big Business” was released.
