Chapel Hill, NC Question

My son was just accepted to UNC Chapel Hill for grad school, so we will be spending some time in the area soon. Any suggestions for interesting things to do in the Raleigh - Durham - Chapel Hill area?

LOTS!! What are your interests? Museums? Shopping? Parks?

Any and all of the things you listed we would be interested in. I figure we will be down there a few times so it would be nice to have some variety in things to do.

In Chapel Hill, there's the planetarium(sp) there on the campus, and the campus itself is great to just wander around on... and the downtown can often times have a village like atomospehre. Go to Top of the Hill. It's great...

There's lots of shopping everywhere, from Saks to Macy's to TJ Maxx to thrift shops but they're all spread out...

The beaches aren't but maybe 2hrs away, Durham Bulls (Yes like the Bull Durham Movie) and lots of parks to hit...Eno River State Park is nice and sometimes quiet..
