    Default 2010 NFL Draft

The NFL draft is fast approaching and I'm wondering how everyone feels about the changes that were made this year. The first round is going to be help Thursday evening, rounds 2-3 Friday and rounds 4-7 on Saturday.

At first I wasn't to enthused about the changes but after digesting I kind of like the idea. With four kids and many spring activities in full swing I don't have the opportunity to set a Saturday aside to sit and watch. With the changes I should be able to catch a little bit more of the first few rounds.

Anyone excited with where their team is picking and have any predictions? The Packers don't pick until the 23rd pick so it's hard to predict who they will take.

Yeah, I'm okay with the changes. It's a bit much, I think, but overall it's probably easier to deal with for a few hours on a couple weeknights than it is for an entire day on the weekend.

Not really that excited about the Eagles in general right now and even less so about the draft. They don't pick until the late first round and based on the way Andy Reid picks players I doubt any of the guys taken this year will be on the team three seasons from now anyway.

I agree it will be much easier to catch some of the draft now. The Packers most glaring need are OT and CB. Let's hope TT pulls some of his middle round magic again.

I cant watch - I start work at 9 pm.
but I normally only wait and see how they picked anyway- and watch the highlights & the NFL boards.

    For the Jets -
at the start of this thing (according to NFL)
    the have all late round picks (29th pick in the 1st, 2nd, 6th & 7th rounds, while picking 26 in round 4 & 24 in round 5).
I would expect that the jets will trade up/ picks to get the players they want.
Last year they had all of 3 picks ( a running back, a qb & an o lineman) all of whom made the team and seem to do well for them.
they need WR, safty and d-line support, but I wouldn't expect them to go nuts this year...

    well good luck to all...

hey pagan, can you imagine taylor as a jet ???

Ahem, I said the jets had a pick in the 5th round (#24), but it turns out they were dealing it away.
so instead of a fifth round pick, we will take a 4 game suspension (hopefully) and get a proven Wide reciever- albiet one with problems.
Heck, at least now when we line up at practice, we can match the bad boy CB with the bad boy reciever...
I hope rex knows what he is getting into...

    Default NFL Draft Thread

What did you guys think, winners, losers?

Anyways, I love the draft but I hate espn's coverage. Patriots this.... Cowboys that....Tebow, Tebow, Tebow. There are over 30 teams in the NFL all they talk about are five or six.....

After the first two rounds with the new prime time format I kinda like it. Last night I had a couple buddies over for a brew and to catch the draft. We had a lot of time to chat and the picks kept us entertained.

The Packers had another solid draft. I like the value they got at 23 but getting Bulaga. I know he has potential risk but so do all of the players. To get a top tier tackle at the 23 overall pick is excellent. Just a week or two ago this kid was a top 5 - 10 pick.

The second rounds the Pack bolstered the D by going with a stud lineman and then traded up for a safety with a lot of upside. The added depth to positions making them better. I think the Pack is happy with everything about the offense but the o-line which they addressed with their first pick. These extra defensive options will only help Dom Capers scheme.

All three players are capable to start next year as well. If this draft is 1/2 as successful as last years this will be a fun season.

The surprise pick was Teabow in the first round to Denver. Why? I just don't see it and think Clausen and McCoy both offered more upside.

One more day of fun to go.

I have noticed the a trend of watching, small, fast running backs go long before they were rated.....I wonder if some people watched Chris Johnson last year?

Tebow fan here so no complaints there but I am curious about a couple of things.

One, when the commentator was interviewing Tebow (at his home in Jacksonville) he and many family members were wearing Denver hats. Did the commentator bring them with him? And if so, how did he know which team to have on hand?

This is hearsay but a friend of mine lives in Jacksonville. She posted this on FB a couple of hours before he was "picked". She said that a clerk at Sports Mania said Tebow's family (I don't know how he "knew" it was Tebow's family) was in the store earlier in the day buying Bronco sports paraphernalia.

    Any thoughts?

I am very happy with the Packers draft. Their picks filled voids. As far as espn is concerned, every player has baggage. Boomer and Mr. Hair drove me absolutely nuts. Gruden was the Simon Cowell of the group. He pretty much told it the way it was, but Boomer talked over everybody. He is beyond annoying. McCoy going so late was surprising. Tebow so early was also surprising. I am "Ready for Some Football!!!"

    Cool

I think the Eagles drafted 18 guys in the 7th round, all coming off serious knee injuries.

On a positive note, they have Andy Reid to coach these guys.

No ... now we're into drafting small, quick (i.e. undersized) defensive lineman.

Big fat guys is so two seasons ago.

we didnt draft a big fat guy, but we still have one (at least recovering from knee issues).

Thought the Jets did good, some odd moves (they cut Fanaca, but still owe him 5.25 mil) but I hope leon washington goes on to do well in seattle.

    go Jets
