Florida Resident discount questions?

If I have a friend who lives in Florida, can they buy tickets for my family and me and give them to us as a gift? Would they get the Florida Resident discount? How would this work? Any help would be appreciated!

To activate the Florida Resident tickets you must provide proof of residency upon first use.....

so would that person have to go with us, or do we all have to be florida residents?

You would all have to be Florida residents to use Florida resident tickets. Even if your friends/family bought the tickets and gave them to you, only they could use them. They'd have to buy you standard non-resident tickets. Disney is really strict on this as is apparent by the proof they require to purchase / redeem them.
