MLB Playoffs 2009

I figured I'd start a separate thread since we all seem to be shifting to playoff talk in the "Yankees" thread. Right now I am watching the 1-game playoff between the Tigers and Twins. The game is in the 10th, and the Twins have just tied it! Can it get more exciting??? I'm hoping for some great games this year... and of course I hope my Phillies repeat! I'll be at NLDS Game 1 tomorrow... Thankfully I was able to leave work at lunch to make the 2:37 start. I can't imagine what it must be like for the Rockies fans to start watching so early

I'm going to be in the doctors office right about the time of first pitch! Hopefully, I'll be home before the last pitch!

The Twins just finished off the Tigers! Can you believe it?

Looks like since the Titans are falling apart I will have to put my hopes in the Sox for the playoffs. I am not expecting much however. I just hope we are treated to some good games. Maybe it will help me forget about the Titans

Yeah, Game 1 will be pretty fun tonight. The feeling here in Minnesota is a mix of "Wow we made it" and "We play the Yankees TONIGHT???". I do feel bad for a couple friends of mine who are Tiger fans though, they fought pretty hard too.

I'm pretty excited for today! In less than 2 hours I'll be in my seat for first pitch of Phillies-Rockies, and I'm also excited to see game one of Twins-Yankees. Hopefully the Twins aren't too worn down from the nail biter yesterday and they can have a good game!

Couldn't have started better for the Phils...5 runs with zero home runs (who says they can't play small ball) and a CG from Lee..need Kid Cole to follow suit tomorrow!

I honestly love the Phils' chances to get back to the Series. I don't love their chances at taking down the machine that is the Yankees, but that's for down the road ... for now, I don't see a team in the NL that can get past us.

Pitching wins in the playoffs and the Phils have the best starting rotation in the NL playoffs.

As was on display today when Lee threw a 1 run CG!

What a first game for the Phillies yesterday! My wife and I were at the game and man, there's nothing like playoff baseball! The crowd was nuts, you could just feel the energy when you walked into the place. Can't wait for this afternoon! Go Phils!

The energy was definitely great, but it gets better! Last year the NLCS and WS were just off the hook from start to finish. Last night the crowd was definitely good but there were some lulls. Where were you sitting? We had section 208.
Can't wait for tonight... I told my students that if they were good all day I'd put the radio on at 2:30 while they did their independent reading. Of course they probably know that it's just as much for me as it is for them

All in good fun, all in good fun. I still see the Phils winning this series, their road record was one of the best in the bigs, if not the best.

That said, in a short series, anything's possible.

Regarding Dodgers/Cards..that kind of loss rips your heart out...will really see what the Cards are made of after that loss. I usually don't feel too much sympathy for multi-million dollar atheletes, but I feel for Matt Holiday right now.

I like to see the Red Sox v. Yankees in the ALCS. No Rays to root for this year. As far as the Cardinals... See you next year. Go Dodgers. Rockies v. Phils... hopefully this series is exciting. Tied right now so lets wait and see. Might be next weekend to play Game 3 with the snow predicted.
