    Default Chirstmas time at Disneyland

Mostly on a whim I've just booked two nights at the DLH for the second weekend of December. I'm hoping that the crowds will be relatively low, since the kids aren't yet out of school. I've been to Disneyland more times than I can count, but this is the first time I'll be going during the holiday season, and I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing it all decked out. I've gone online and have seen mention of several of the things that they do to decorate, but I was wondering if the Tower of Terror got any special treatment.

    Thanks much!

Doubt ToT will get any attention.
It got none for Halloween this year.

Seems like a missed opportunity to me.
Doesn't have to be a new drop program.
Just something to pull people in.

The rest of both parks will be decked out though.
Christmas at Disneyland is my favorite!

The kids don't have to be out of school for weekends to be crowded at DLR. EVERY weekend is crowded at DLR. Hate to break it to you...

BUT, the holiday season is the best time to go, and I think you made a great choice.

Tower of Terror has never gotten any "attention" at Christmas time. Doesn't really seem like the type of attraction for such a thing. Halloween seems much more fitting, and even though it is featured in the newest Halloweentime commercial, which makes it LOOK like there's something special going on during this time, there isn't. In general, DCA sort of lags in the Christmas themeing. They sort of do a "Santa's Beach Party" thing over there, and it's okay, but NOTHING like the Holiday festivities over at Disneyland park. That's where the awesome stuff is. The castle "ice" lights, which I hope they bring back this year, the Small World holiday lighting ceremony, the Tree on Main Street, the Reindeer Roundup at Big Thunder Ranch, the Holiday Parade, etc.

You picked a great time to go. Crowds on Saturday and Sunday will be HUGE, but worth it to experience the festivities.

Christmas time is the best time to go to DL. Weekends will be busy but everyone is correct, well worth it. If you have kids don't forget to visit the reindeer roundup in Big Thunder Ranch. The kids can make Christmas cookies and see Santa and real reindeer. The castle is awesome, make sure to watch it light up. Have fun

Thanks everyone! I know that weekends are always bad, but I'm hoping that weekend won't be AS bad as, say, the weekend before Christmas. ::sigh:: Too bad I need to work and can't get there for a weekday. I'm going with my sisters and, possibly, my mother and we tend to hit the park commando style. We were there a weekend this last July and never stood in line more than 20 minutes. We so have the fast pass thing down.

It's surprising to me that they don't do anything to ToT even during Halloween and yet they did to Space Mountain. Really????

    Thanks again!

Christmas is our favorite time to go (this is the first time we are going at Halloween instead because DD is the lead in a local play and can't leave in December)
You will love it! I love the fireworks and the parade so much, don't miss it. The decorations alone are worth going at that time. My fav area is New Orleans Square, we usually take our family Christmas picture on the steps in the courtyard at New Orleans square.

Warming up a little to Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy.

After riding it three times yesterday, I feel somewhat better about the overlay. I still think it needs something.

Got asked questions about it upon exiting the second time too.

Hopefully the feedback will help make decisions for next year.

How were the crowds? We downloaded the IPhone app for Wait times and were curious how accurate it was.

Which iPhone app did you get?

    May get it myself.

The crowds were BAD after noon.
Wait times for SMGG varied from 75 minutes to 90.

We used FP to the best of our abilities that day and made the most of our day.

When does the park get its Christmas makeover? BF and I just confirmed a trip to Disneyland at the beginning of December, and I'm hoping all of the decorations will be up by then.

They start around Thanksgiving and the 1st week of December is usually the taping of the Christmas show, so everything will be done by then for sure.

    Question

The taping for the Christmas Parade that is advertised as "live" from WDW and DL has been announced as, Saturday, November 7, and Sunday November 8. I have a question is the Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy all day, or just a night? Thanks in advance.

For the last 3 yrs we have gone to the park just before Thanksgiving for a few days and have found both Parks, DTD & the DL Hotel decorated. Last yr we arrived Nov 19 & it was done.

I was thinking of going to Disneyland on Nov. 13th. It is the first day they have the Christmas Parade, Small World Holiday, and the Holiday fireworks. Does this mean this day is going to be very crowded? And because that is the day they start all the Christmas activities does this mean that the decorations for Christmas will all be done?

We have kind of taken over a thread with general discussion, so I am doing a re-direct and asking discussion in this thread move back to the OP's questions.

I have just added a front-page item regarding this topic ... feel free to visit HERE -- and general discussion on Disney Holdays should go HERE.

(yes Briar-Rose, the start of the holiday season means all decorations will be up! :welcome; to INTERCOT!)
