I am never sure who counts as an obscure character, obviously Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc don't.

Looking at names listed on here we did meet Kermit and Miss Piggy at MGM studios back in 1998. We have a pictue of us with them and my sister (who was 4 at the time) looks scared of, or at least suspicious about Kermit. We also met Meg and Phil from Hercules that year, though then again Hercules was quite new then so they could have been regulars.

In 2004 we did see Friar Tuck from Robin Hood....does he count?

    OH. MY. GAWD.

Where'd you meet Shang? WANT TO MEET SHANG!

Would love to meet Shan-Yu too but I'm afraid I'd squeal like a little girl and run away crying.

I saw Jiminy Cricket 3 weeks ago. What's that building called that you enter once you take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch? I saw him in that building. I was just looking at a display when I saw some green out the corner of my eye. So, I looked up, and through the screen I saw Jiminy Cricket. I flipped out a bunch and went up the ramp to get into a short line. He just came out.

Since PP have found him there, looks like Rafiki's Planet Watch is the place to go to see Jiminy Cricket!

Jiminy Cricket isn't sounding so obscure anymore, but we met him at Rafiki's Planet Watch along with Pocahantas.

We met sorcerer Mickey, Mr & Mrs Incredible and Frozone, and the cast from UP (Russell, Carl, and Dug in costume with a background Kevin the bird that popped in and out of the scene) in the Studios.

B'rer Bear & B'rer Rabbit, Flik, Mushu, & Baloo at DAK

Daisy Duck at Epcot (and heard they also had Marie from the Aristocats that day!) We also got to meet Alice of Alice in Wonderland, Jasmine and Aladdin, and Belle and the Beast (lots of fun, though I don't know if they qualify as rare...!)

We recently met Terrence at MK and Marie in Epcot (we've been searching for her for years) Plus Santa Goofy at World of Disney.

This has been posted before but I think it fits nicely here in this thread,

Just to kind of put a bow on this thread for refrence purposes...

There are really 5 levels of charcter "rarity": Of course the levels depend on how hard you look for characters. Most of the people who "hang out" here on the Intercot character board are hard core "anglers" (people who search for characters). These definitions are intended for the anglers, as they tend to hunt out the hard to find characters while they visit. A casual park visitor may call Captain Hook uncommon becuase they only see him once or twice but anglers know he's an everyday character. Or a character like Meeko may be a Super Rare to them but he would be a common to anlgers.

Anyways....here are the five character angling levels as I see it. (Every angler probably would have their own differing opinions)

    Everyday
    Commons
    Uncommons
    Rare
    Super Rare

Everyday characters are just that out 90-100% of the time with standard meet n greets, i.e. Peter Pan, Mickey, Princesses, Jiminy Criket, Aladdin, etc...

Commons are characters who are not out everyday but you commonly find them in places like the Teardrop, Oasis, or the Fantasmic meet i.e. Flick, Terk, Meeko, Brer Bear you have probably a 50-70% shot at seeing these characters.

Uncommons are characters like Prince John, Jafar, Max, Queen Of Hearts and perhaps even the White Rabbit. it is always fluid as some characters seem to get a "push" and appear in fluries, like Scrooge during Christmas. Uncommons are characters that do not have a standard meet n greet, are not always found at the oasis or at training venues but appear infrequantly. You could go one week with no sign of one of these but another week you may run into them twice. Your only probably 40% or less likely to see them depending on how much time you spend character angling.

Rare characters like Prince Phillip, Tarzan, Jane, or John Smith may appear at special events only or in rare instances where they are at a training area.. Odds are you will not find these characters unless your lucky or go to a special event. Probabably around 10% or less

And then there are Super Rare characters, characters that can still make very rare appearences often times at special events like Little John, individual Dwarfs (except Dopey), Big Bad Wolf, Quasimodo, or Hades. You don't have much of a shot at these as some are no longer available but some do come on every blue moon.
    Loads of trips since 1974...

Thanks for explaining it that way; I'm definately not an angler (though I wish I went to WDW enough to be!)

Really? My husband met Joe Rhode once at AK, but didn't know who he was until years later when he saw him on the Everest TV Special.
I guess the rarest I've met are Prince John and Meg. I met Bert from Mary Poppins once, but I don't think he is that rare anymore.

I can add another character to my list- Dr. Facilier (from Princess and the Frog). I was able to catch him quickly for a picture on his last day out (on Sunday).
