Default Place your cost for Alaska cruise here.

Since prices are not released yet, I thought I'd post at least this one.

I just got an email from someone who had a cat 2 through inventory control.

    Here is their cost:

The cost for the seven days is as follows:
    Adult 1 Cruise Fare: $5,179.00
    Adult 2 Cruise Fare: $5,179.00
    Adult 3 Cruise Fare: $1,729.00
    Adult 4 Cruise Fare: $1,729.00
    Vacation Insurance: $336.00
Government Taxes & Fees (Cruise): $382.52
    ---------------------------
    Total: $14,534.52

Yikes! That's just about double the cost for four adults in a Cat 4 (obviously not a Cat 2 but they don't post prices for Cat 3 and above online), for the 14-Night Transatlantic Westbound Cruise next summer.

Any inkling yet as to what costs may be for a Cat 9 or the new Cat 5 (the cabins formerly known as Cat 6)?

    Whoa !!!!

Now I know how DCL is planning on paying for the new ships!

Category 2 suites are exceptionally nice, but I'd only be interested in renting one, not buying it!

No, I.C. is populating online for people who had already requested for a Cat R-T (was Cat 1-3).

I.C. stopped taking requests, so I could not even fax one in for a cat2.. but looking at those prices, I'm not sure I would do it, even if we got one. It would work out to about $3200 per person for us - now, I'm waiting until Monday to see what happens on cost... I''ll try to post as soon as my sister lets me know what kinda costs she is seeing.

Plus, I'm sure Tink1 will let us know as soon as she can take a breath!

Sad that we are not on the same cruise, but glad that your trip report will be before mine so I can read all about the cruise LOL!

A side note to pricing: Our same cabin, one week eariler was $1700 more. Seems the crusing season changes starting my week. I wonder if its because a lot of schools open the second week of August?

I'm not stalking you, but based on that tidbit, I just may have to change our plans and sail the second week of August instead of the first. Birthday schmurthday. It's my birthday month, right?

Quoting Frank Barone - "Holy Cr@p!!!!" But, alas, you are correct, that's why we're sailing when we are. The wife's a teacher & it's back to school time for them that week, kids start the week after.

Texas would have had me cruisng the last week of July, but a few years back they changed that we could not start early in August anymore. I may end up missing the first day back to work for teachers, or just make it back, depending on how they schedule the teacher return. This year we had 3 days back that were optional for us, if we came back for those 3 days, we got 3 days off during the school year, so I'm hoping something like that will be offered and I will just miss a flex day.

Same here, but individual counties have been lobbying the Dept of Ed to start earlier so that exams would happen before the Christmas (oops, sorry, winter) break. Seems that some students head south to visit family during that time & just can't seem to make it back in time for exams. Others evidently forget everything they've been taught during that break, never study and cannot pass the exams! Sorry I'm getting off topic. I'll make sure to post my review of the trip. This is going to be great!!!!

We just booked. I wanted the lowest price possible, so we I priced out a Cat 11 on the May 24th sailing- $2089 for 2 adults (no trip insurance or transportation). However I used my DVC points instead of cash as it was only 149 per adult. I thought either way it was pretty affordable. That cruise will also be over DH's birthday. Alsaka here we come!

Well, we're in too. We're on Deck 6 (6578) on the Aug 9th sailing!

As for the cost, I'm trying very hard NOT to think about it... so right now in my mind, it's the "fare-that-will-not-be-named."

I think I figured out if you put a tad bit over $200 a month aside starting next month you can have it paid for in 18 months.....
