Default Would you like to see Captain EO return to Epcot?

There's been several rumors lately that the Micael Jackson film/attraction, Captain EO, that was at one time in all the Disney parks, may return for a limited run in Disneyland in 2010. There's also a thread here Captain EO returns that talks about it.

Would you be interested in seeing this again (or for the first time) in WDW/Epcot?

Personally, I think it would be neat for them to bring this back, if not but for a limited time.
Everybody else is thinking it, I'm just saying it. - Mr Gibbs

Don't they have ANY ideas for anything new? I know, at least for a short time, some people are 'jonesing' for Michael Jackson, but Captain EO is 'long ago and far away' and should be left there.

I'd like to see it at least once. Back in the spring of '86 I was in EPCOT but didn't see it and by my next visit in 2002, it was gone. I've heard it's cheesy and I'm sure it is, compared to modern stuff, but I would love to see it.

I'd also love to see what everyone's talking about with Timekeeper as well as Horizons, too. Oh, well. I'm sure that in years-to-come I'll be "remembering fondly" some of the current attractions.

I think it's time has passed and would much rather see something new and original.

Well, I have to admit I am curious about EO, I would like to see it. Let's face it, WDW has all kinds of things from the past, why not EO

I voted maybe....... I only saw EO once....it was fine. The issue is I am totally bored with HISTA and looking at the lack of line I would say everyone else is also. It is time for a new show, but I would take EO over HISTA at this point.

    Thanks

I cannot stand Michael Jackson and, in light of certain things in his life, including the alleged drug use, among other things, I would HATE to see it brought back into the parks.

One could argue it is a Disney Theme Park movie that was directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Well, if I want to see a Coppola movie, I will put The Godfather into my DVD player.

I would not go to see it because it's sad to think about this talented entertainer and his absolutely miserable life.

Saw it once, not terribly impressed, wouldn't want to see it again.

While I can understand the sentimentality behind it, the film is incredibly dated in both music and special effects. Not to mention just replacing the film isn't enough. A lot of what made the film so cool were all of the in-theater special effects. I'm pretty sure Disney wouldn't want to foot the bill to install all of those again.

While it was good for its time, it wouldn't appear as anything more than something nostalgic rather than a revival.

I wouldn't mind seeing it one more time because I was probably 10 the last time I saw it in the 80's. I don't think it would be a good idea to bring it back though. Michael Jackson THEN is long gone and has been for awhile. I don't think Disney would want to do anything with Michael Jackson considering his past in the last 10 to 15 years. I'd LOVE to see something new and original - I'm getting really sick of 'new' attractions that aren't original (like American Idol). Can't we think up something better? I liked what they had in that studio years ago, can't we do something like that again?

Captain EO's time in the parks have come and gone... if they wanted to release a 3D DVD, then I'd buy it... But it has to stay out of the parks now...

I voted 'yes' as I would like to see it for a limited engagement. But to reinstall all the effects for something that would only be temporary doesn't make much sense. But I would love to see it again.

Of course, as my screen name suggests, I'd also be for bringing back Mr. Toad, as well as Horizons and Rio del Tiempo.

    Thumbs down

Considering Disney's primary target audience and considering Michael's ... uh ... legal entanglements, I'd say it would be extremely bad taste for them to bring back MJ.

IF Disney did the complete package of effects and IF Disney committed up front to a run of say no more than 6 to 12 months and actually stuck to that committment then I would be OK with it. However, if Disney just stuck it in without ALL the especial effects and if they just let it run until they came up with something different then the answer would most definately be no.
