    Default Shipping?

We'll be at WDW just before Christmas this year and I've heard two methods of shipping purchases...one directly from the shop to the destination and the other to have the purchase sent to the resort and shipping from there (through the concierge....I think) Has anybody tried this and is there a difference in cost? Thanks

Well, I can tell you that if you ship from the point of purchase you do not pay sales tax. I don't know if you would get the tax back if you bought it and then shipped it later.

When we shipped something directly from the shop to home a couple of years ago, we didn't have to pay sales tax. You probably would have to pay the tax if you waited to get everything to the resort before you shipped.

There is a difference in the cost of shipping from the stores vs. the resort. If you have the store ship the item(s) directly, they calculate the charge based on the dollar amount of the merchandise. If you ship it from the resort, they will use the weight of the package to calculate the charges. Generally, the shipping cost will be less at the resort.

However, as was mentioned, if you ship from the store, they do not charge sales tax. That fact will certainly make up for any "excess" shipping charges, and will probably save you money in the long run.

Personally, I think it's just easier to ship from the store.

We shipped everything all at once, at the end of the trip. We took everything to our resort's gift shop and they shipped it all in a big box for about $13.00. It was filled with toys and stuffed animals. We even shipped the prizes we won in AK.
