    I agree.

IMHO the fact is as long as there are free dining and 4+3 offers something else needs to go up to offset it.

I only wish this was the case. We usually get Yankee's tickets for 2 games a season with our favorite seats being Main Reserved. The price increase on that section went from $95 to $150......I'm still waiting for a discount offer.

I am a stockholder, and can't believe the news. What a bad time to increase prices. Now I will have to do more saving for the next time I go to WDW.

This is not good. With the economy the way it is and all. There is no up turn in the economy as some are being lead to believe. People are still losing jobs in the thousands every month. I just can't see the justification in these increases once or twice a year. HPL may not drive down attendance but price increases will.

Third, maybe they should include on their survey a question asking guests if they thought raising their prices each year has an effect on them or if they like it, or love it.

I guess I might be tempted if asked to take their survey to tell them no and to tell them the reason is that the survey is skeewed to make it seem like everyone wants to raise the ticket prices and for nothing more.

We must always also remember that each and every first sunday in august will always be known as Black Sunday in Disney.

I have to disagree.. People will stop going if it gets out of their price range. I'm lucky if I make 40K a year. If that price for one day hits $90 or the the others hit that price. I'm done. I'm sorry, I am one big Disney fan but $79 or whatever the prices will be for the other options are starting to hurt. I have been down 25 times since 1983. I am finding it much harder to dish that kind of money to the Mouse. I hope Disney does look at this site. Cause I have never seen a survey anywhere that asked if I would accept price increases in the future. I would not have said yes.

With the way the prices are going up, quality going down, and the quantity of shows is decreasing, I'm really thinking twice about dropping $25-$30k on a DVC. I just don't know if I want to make that typre of a committment. What will it be like in 10, 20, or 30 years? Will there even BE a Disney? Who ever thought GM's future would ever be in question?

Don't get me wrong, we still love Disney. We're still willing to visit twice in the next 5 months. I just spent $2k yesterday on APs. I just don't know if I am comfortable with a 50 year committment. Am I the only one that feels this way?

My wife and I are vacation club members at Old Key West. The way things are going with al the price increases, the drop-off in service and the never-ending crowds, we're looking to get a couple of more years out of our membership and dump it.
Disney could have benefited in so many ways by not raising prices in one of the worst economies our country has ever had to endure.
The goodwill they could have generated by not raising prices or dropping them 5 percent would have been immeasurable.
Instead, the just keep getting greedier and greedier and the day will come when they price themselves out of much of their market.
I just hope it isn't before I sell my timeshare.

You are correct, and when and only when they find that invisible line will they back peddle and skip a price hike cycle.

    Get it? Peddle... cycle...

So, when will it reach the price that makes you stop going? I am thinking sooner than later for us. we won't go over 85, that's for sure.

I know this is about ticket prices but how much has the Resort prices changed over the years? How come we never hear about other price increases it seems. I read buzz2001 said next year CSR will be $5 more per night then the other Mod Resorts.

I have to say that I am in total agreement that a ticket price increase in today's economy is bad PR... just makes the company and it's CEO's look bad.

But, I also have to say that if you compare Disney's one day ticket prices to the prices of many other parks, they are actually quite reasonable.

I live in an area where I can get to 3 water/amusement parks within 2 hours. The price for the Six Flags park for my family of four, w/o any discounts, is $144. The other two smaller parks cost us $100 & $112. We also have a small waterpark about an hour away, which costs us $80 as a family, and we spend $86 to get into our Renaissance Festival for the day.

If you price out Hershey for the day, it is $204 for a family of four.

Now -- looking at all those numbers, for what you get in one day at a Disney park for $79, it's not all that bad, and we all know that none of us go for just one day -- we buy multi-day tickets that take our price much below the $79/day.

So... like I said at the beginning ... I think it is poor PR on any company's part to be raising ticket prices right now, I really do. But in all fairness, you pay far more for far less at most parks across the country.

Just my ... take it for what it's worth...

I already went from going 10x or more a year to I'm lucky if I get to go once or twice, and I only live an hour away. I had an annual pass at the time sure, but my friends don't. Disney is more enjoyable with other people to me.

I do not have an AP anymore, and was planning on taking my son for his free birthday trip, but even though he gets in free, we still have to pay for myself, my BF and most likely my mom. I'm not sure if I can afford a free day. He's going to want souvieniers for his birthday. Plus I'll have the baby with me. And we all have to eat at some point. It all adds up to more than this average Jane can do

I can't imagine how you all that live out of state manage. With ticket prices increasing, airfare and/or gas prices increasing and food and hotel as well. I would have been priced out of Disney a long time ago. $80 a ticket is my limit. I love Disney, but can't afford to go any higher, so I love it from a distance and miss it.

I know that at my restaurant, we had to raise prices in certain areas to offset the fact that minimum wage keeps going up. I'm sure that Disney is taking a hit on that as well.

This proves my point the games in general are still selling very well. People albeit not you are still willing to pay $150 for those seats. It would take large numbers of people refusing to go to get ticket prices lowered.

But most of these parks offer much better deals in terms of "Buy One Get One Free" offers and other promotional discounts. They also offer a much cheaper season pass/annual pass options. I know I could have pruchased a discounted seasonal pass to Six Flags for around the same price a 1 Day ticket at Disney costs and that pass is good at any Six Flags throughout the Country. It's comparing apples to oranges here since most of the parks are regional parks and not destinations.

    Cool

My biggest issue with the whole thing is not the actual increase itself. I still do actually believe that Disney park tickets are a fairly good deal.

I mean, if you consider that most people probably end up with 7 Day Hopper passes that cost around $300, your cost per day is really only around $42 per day. Which, when you consider a ticket to a sporting event that lasts three hours can easily cost three times that much, doesn't seem so bad.

And for us, we get an AP with the DVC discount and it costs us maybe $350 or something. We use that for like 10-15 days admission in a year. Our costs are closer to $30 a day.

So it's the PR stupidity that gets me. And it's not just Disney. It's American Corporations in general ... the GM corporate jet scandal, all the AIG publicity hits, Citi Field ... they're just clueless when it comes to PR and public perception these days. It's like they're just so far removed and isolated from the real world that they're incapable of seeing how their actions are perceived by the general population.

Right ... thus negating the fact the minimum wage went up in the first place, because now those working for minimum wage have extra money but have to spend it to pay for the increased prices on everything.

This is called "The Law of Unintended Consequences" and politicians are terrible at understanding how it works. It's also why governments should never meddle in a free market economy, but that's a story for another post.

    Exactly.

How many ppl living in FL (with their passes) have family and friends visit that want to do a one day trip to Disney? These one day ticket price hikes make this less and less feasible.

Sorry this doesn't make sense. You're comparing the price of FOUR tickets ($144, $112, $204 etc..) for others parks to ONE ticket to a WDW park for $79. LOL. Sounds like "fuzzy math"......
