    Default Airfare Amazement

Normally we drive to the world (13.75 hors from Cincy) as we cannot afford to fly down a party of 5. Last week on a whim I checked Delta.com and was able to score round trip tickets leaving 12/24 and returning 1/1 for $144 per person plus tax for a grand total of $165 and change per person. I went back online today just to see if I got hosed or a good deal and the same flights are now $498 per person plus tax. For those planning holiday trips this year I would keep an eye on airfare.

Congrats on getting a good price! It does pay off to keep checking various airlines - you never know when you'll find a special!

I am amazed too by the wide range of airfare prices. My upcoming June trip had lowest fare pricing from $680 to $1400 for a family of 4. When i am planning a trip to the World, it is not unusual for me to check airfare 4 or more times a day. Congrats on nabbing a good deal!

That is truly excellent for you and your family! Going from Chicago to Orlando has been on the other end of the spectrum - 1st flight out Saturday, last flight back two weeks later has been all the way up to $600 each person for our trip in June. I've been researching since September, and finally booked a one-way flight for my family out of Midway airport for $157 each. I'm watching all of the carriers like a hawk, but nothing is lower than $188 on the return trip so far. . .

    Congratulations on an AWESOME deal!

We always find the best deals on Delta! We're flying April vacation week for 216 per person. This was a savings of almost 400 per person (or 2000.00 for our family of 5) over JetBlue's average fares for the same time.

Edit: I just checked JetBlue again and actually they are about 800 per person round trip so actually a savings of 3000.00 for our family!

Thanks everyone. Now I just have to pray that Delta stays in business for at least 11 more months.

I think you just have to pray that Delta does not bump you off your flight too often...keep checking your reservation # on the web site becuase you most likely will not be notified about it either.

Delta would have to pay me to fly with them after the horrible mess I went through on the one trip I did book with them and ended up getting a complete refund and booking with the old trusty Southwest!

    Good luck!

I'm also from the Chicago area and we are not traveling till December. I found a one way trip through AirTran out of Midway for $83. Still haven't found a return trip worth booking yet. Have to keep looking, it seems prices change almost daily...

Just booked (2 days ago) with AirTran out of Harrisburg for $74 each way -- direct flight with travel before early Nov. sometime. We are going in Sept. and I snapped it up right away. BTW, this came in an email to me. WooHoo!!
