Default Today in Disney History 12/22

Dec. 22, 1861 – Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (known as Lewis Carroll), and also known for his children’s books such as “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” was ordained a deacon in the Church of England.
Dec. 22, 1885 – Deems Taylor, the narrator of Disney’s 1940 film “Fantasia,” was born in N.Y.C.
Dec. 22, 1917 – Frankie Darro, the voice of Lampwick in the 1940 Disney classic “Pinocchio,” was born in Chicago, Il.
Dec. 22, 1936 – A “Snow White” conference was held at the Disney Studio’s Hyperion sound stage in Ca. Twenty-nine employees (mostly animation directors) discussed the dwarfs personalities and listen to Walt’s detailed shot-by-shot description of the movie.
Dec. 22, 1937 – Animator Wolfgang “Woolie” Reitherman ran into Walt Disney at the studio the morning after the widely successful opening of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Instead of talking about how he can now take a little rest after all the tensions he’d gone through during the four years it took to make Snow White, Walt began talking about the next animated feature and how he wants to get started right away.
Dec. 22, 1953 – Disney’s animated “Peter Pan” was released in West Germany.
Dec. 22, 1954 – The Disneyland TV series presented “A Present for Donald.”
Dec. 22, 1955 – The Mickey Mouse Club aired the episode “Today is Circus Day” on ABC-TV.
Dec. 22, 1955 – The Disney film “The Littlest Outlaw” was released.
Dec. 22, 1956 – The sixth of eight installments titled “My Dad, Walt Disney,” by Diane Disney Miller as told to Pete Martin (a “celebrity friendly” writer) appeared in the Saturday Evening Post.
