FastPass Distribution
I have a question on FastPass distribution that I'm hoping someone can answer.
In a couple weeks, my family (five adults, one toddler) will be going to WDW. I normally get up and going early, but I expect others in the family will lag a little behind because of the toddler.
Here's my question. If I go to the park before the rest of my family and take all of our passes, can I use them in a FastPass machine to get FastPasses for the entire family to use later on? Or do the machines only read cards that have gone through the turnstiles that day?
For example, the day we go to DHS, I'd like to get to the park at opening and get FastPasses for Toy Story Mania. Can I enter the park with my pass and get FastPasses for everyone in my family, then leave the park when they arrive to give them their park passes?
Thanks in advance for your help!

No, you can't.
I asked this question a few months back.
The system knows that those passes haven't been used for admisson that day.

This is what the FastPass will say:
NOT A VALID FASTPASS TICKET
Your ticket was not used for admission today at [park name].
A Fastpass Ticket cannot be issued.
Please ask a cast member for assistance.
Ticket not scanned at [park name]

That's disappointing to hear, but not very surprising.
Thanks for the quick response!

But you can high tail it to the ride as soon as they enter the park...
I know not as helpful, but maybe still workable.
My DH always takes all of our passes and goes and gets a F.P. while we are in line for a ride he doesn't want to go on.
Have a great trip!

to get a FP each park pass has to get scanned on the way in. Otherwise you won't be able to get a FP. We had a situation where my DS card apparently didn't get the green light when we went into a park (CM told us it was fine when it wasn't) and when we went to get a FP using his card we got a message that told us invalid park pass. A CM explained that according to the machine, that park pass was not accepted at the gate. The CM gave us a FP anyway as it was obvious that we didn't sneak in our 5 year thru the front gate.

I think it depends on how busy it is when you're there. When we were there a couple of weeks ago apparently not many people were getting fastpasses... the FP time would be about 40 minutes from the time that we were getting them. So we could get another FP when our current FP time was up. So say if my FP time was 11:40-12:40, then we could get another FP at 11:40am. And sometimes it wouldn't be that soon, but we'd still have to wait. Like for TSM we rode it first thing (second people on that morning, actually) and then when we got off we got a FP. Even though it was a little after 9am, our FP's weren't until 11am, and we couldn't get another FP until after 11am. Kinda silly how that works sometimes, but I don't think that later in the day when the FP time was for 7pm-8pm that those people getting them had to wait until 7pm to get another FP, since it was only 1pm.

We don't go during the summer months, but...
Everytime we have gone in the past 2 or 3 years the 2 hour rule HAS NOT been enforced. We have been able to get more fastpasses after the return time for our former passes begins...if that makes sense.
I would suspect that during summer, these rules change and I am sure that WDW has this system down to a science.
During early March, the fastpass system is almost not even needed. Last March there was no line for Test Track and there were about 8 people waiting at the Fastpass return que for their time to come up. I never did figure out why they didnt just go into the regular standby line. We did and went right to the front. There were only about 40 people in front of us and we were on the ride inside of 10 minutes.
With our 7 kids and us 2 adults we "game" the fastpass system like crazy. Afterall, even if the park pass is for a little tyke, it will still grant you a fastpass to ANY ride. Yes I know, it may not be right but it's there for anyone to do. We rarely if EVER wait to get on E-Ticket rides.
We lost count around 30 visits since 1998.
We have 4 visits to DL/DCA.
We've stayed at Grand Cali at DL, and all WDW resorts and all DVC's except AKL/Villas, Pop, Port Orleans, Bay Lake, and FWCamp. Our Favorite? For Hotels, Grand Fla, and for DVC, BWV, with BWV our first choice overall.

The next fastpass available time is (usually) either:
a. Two hours from the time you last got one.
b. Around the time your next fastpass ride window opens.
Whichever comes first.
If you get a FP at 11am with the return time of 8pm, yo9u'll be able to get another at 1pm.
Some rides don't seem to have a delay on getting another FP. For example, I got a FP for Lights, Motor, Action! and was able to get another almost immediately (I tried it at TLM). Don't count on this happening all the time.
FPs are linked throughout the world, so your next available FP time on a FP received at Epcot will be enforced at MK, or MGM, or whatever. I've tried that too.
As mentioned, tickets need to be run through the turnstyles in order to be eligible for any FP.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering how soon after you got one could you get one again. We always got another one after we used the one we had.
