We are just 28 days out from our land/sea vacation. This is our first time cruising and would love to know what you wear to dinner? I am starting to think about what I need to pack and need to know if I need to do some more shopping !
You should go with what you're comfortable with and what your luggage will allow. The easiest is khaki pants for the guys and I packed a simple pair of black dress pants for me. We just mixed and matched shirts. Guys can wear polos, Tommy Bahama shirts or even just a button dress shirt. My youngest daughter wore simple sundresses.
We did enjoy taking some extra time to dress up a bit for dinner. It sort of made things a little more special for us. With so many luggage restrictions now on the airlines, I'd try to mix and match and not pack a separate outfit for each night.

FIrst, for the kids...I would pack 3 pairs of slacks, and then a few golf shirts and a hawaiian shirt, and one button down shirt and tie for formal night.
Last few cruises, DH has ditched the Jacket.
I usuall bring a couple shirts and slacks and tops that can mix and match.
Esp. now w/ the luggage restriction, I would try to use nighttime wear more than once!
we are doing the 4 night cruise, so if i am correct, there is no formal night?
i was planning on capris, kahki's and a skirt for me for dinners, for DH kahki's, and for DD sundresses. Does this sound appropriate for the 4 night cruise?

On the 4 night, you'll have 3 cruise casual evenings and 1 night that they call "dress up". It's not formal by any means, but the characters will be dressed up that night for pictures and cruisers are invited to do the same. It's entirely up to you though.

Those sound very appropriate. My daughter wore sundresses, we would just bring along a sweater or shrug because the restaurants can be a bit cool with the air conditioning.
What do people typically wear on Pirate night?
You could go all out and wear true pirate garb... argghhhhh. You can tone down the costumes and just go with a pirate themed t-shirt, maybe something you create on the computer with iron on transfers or just wear your cruise casual clothes.
