May 29, 1889 – Don Brodie, the voive of Barker in the 1940 Disney classic “Pinocchio”, was born in Cincinnati, Oh.
May 29, 1903 – Legendary comedian entertainer Bob Hope, who appeared in the 1965 special “Jack Benny Visits Walt Disney”, and was part of the Grand Opening of WDW in 1971, and appeared on “NBC Salutes the 25th Anniversary of WDW, was born in England.
May 29, 1906 – Author Terence Hanbury White (also known as T.H. White) was born in Bombay, India. One of his most memorable stories “The Sword in the Stone” would be the inspiration for Disney’s 1963 animated feature “The Sword in the Stone.”
May 29, 1928 – A gag meeting for the second Mickey Mouse short was held at Walt Disney’s house. Walt told Wilfred Jackson and other members of his staff the idea of producing a sound cartoon.
May 29, 1937 – Disney’s Donald Duck short “Modern Inventions”, was released.
May 29, 1941 – Disney animator (members of the Screen Cartoonists Guild) staged a strike at Disney Studios. The strike ended by Federal Mediation and the Bank of America, forcing Walt Disney to give in to the union demands.
May 29, 1944 – The Disney film “The Amazon Awakens” was delivered to the Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs.
May 29, 1953 – Composer Danny Elfman, known for his music in Disney’s 1997 “Flubber”, 1993 “Nightmare Before Christmas”, and the 1990 “Dick Tracey”, was born in Amarillo, Tx.
May 29, 1957 – The Disney TV show aired “The Liberty Story.”
May 29, 1959 – The Disney film “I Captured the King of the Leprechauns” was released.
