A good resullt for football last night. The team actually willing to play football got through albeit by penalties. In all honesty, everyone in England new it would be penalties before the game started.

With Turkey down to on 13 fit players you really can't see them pulling off another upset, especially against the Germans and with the Russians now looking very threatening this Championship remains pretty open.

    Here's my prediction.

Germany to win if they play Russia or:

Spain to win if they play Germany.

I'm through making predictions. Every team that I've picked has lost. So I'm predicting Russia to win it all.
That's hard for me to do since I grew up in the 80s watching Rambo movies.

While I would like to see Turkey continue their Cinderalla run, I can't go against Germany, or my great grandfather who was born in Germany might turn in his grave So come on Deutschland!

I don't really have a compelling reason to cheer for either team in the other game, but I'm going to cheer for Russia just because it's fun to talk about Spain always choking.

    Default Spain-Germany It Is!

I actually predicted the final correctly! It would have been interesting to see Turkey in the final, but these are the teams I expected to make it through to the final from the semis. I still have Spain winning, but the Germans are finding ways to win.

I'm still waiting for Torres to bust a match wide open. Hopefully, it will be on Sunday. I am concerned that Villa will not be available, but Aragones will probably put Fabregas in for Villa. And I have faith in Iker Casillas!

    Should be a great final!

OH, and how about Italy sacking Donadoni and bringing back Lippi?

Sorry Davy i dissagree the thought of a Russia v Turkey final would have been frightening for all the action would have happened in the last 5 mins of the 90 mins

I think out of the four teams left this is what the majority would have wanted ..I will be rooting for Spain to give the Germans a good thrashing ....I hope the weather holds out however

I respect Germany a lot, but I believe the team that deserved to win won yesterday. Except for the first few minutes, Spain looked the better team. Even after they scored the goal (TORRES!) they still took chances and looked to score goals. It could have easily been 3-0. Spain was just so dangerous on the counter.

Hope their good form continues in 2010 in South Africa.

It was an entertaining game. It seemed like there were so many counter attacks, anything could happen. Spain certainly had the most quality chances.
I will have to say, the referring still seems a little off in these things. Both teams were killing each other for a time.

Yeah, I was cheering for Germany but there's no doubt which was the better team yesterday. Good game though if you were a Spain fan or a neutral.

For me, it was a disappointing end to a rather disappointing tournament. France's early exit gave Henry a chance to visit WDW though: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/spo...s-thierry.html

The best team won however you always felt Spain needed that 2nd goal. I always expect the Germans to get a last minute goal. thankfully not last night.
