What time should I try to make a PS in hopes of scoring an outside table for Illuminations?

Thinking of just doing dessert...will they allow that?

They will allow just dessert, but they don't allow requests any more. Tables are given on a first available basis. When you get lucky, it's great, what a view. But in case you don't, they do have a viewing area that you can go to between courses (or take a break and go back, in your case perhaps). There is a two hour requested time limit on table space. So, plan the ADR for maybe forty minutes before the show, and I would plan on more than just dessert to justify taking a prime table at that time, but that's me. You're taking a bit of a risk in that if you are asking for just dessert at a time when table space is premium, you may get rushed through. Best wishes with it.
