Southern New England Meet: March 2008

Hi all,

I know it's a long way away, but I thought I might gather some opinions on a meet in March.

I'd love to have the meet somewhere in southwestern CT so the NYC crew could join us. New Haven perhaps?

Well, this early on I'm open to all ideas. Give me:
1. A good date in March.
2. where you are located and/or general area that would be good for you.

Why not meet at Foxwoods or Mohegan? Seems to be pretty central for everyone including the folks from VT and NH and ME.

I would like to try to make it. Foxwoods or Mohegan could be fun, but anything is fine with me depending on my schedule and when we meet. Looking forward to more news.

I'd love to come and meet you all! Like Bethany, could it be someplace we can reach via MetroNorth? Also, can you bring kids to the casinos? (If it were at one of the casinos, I wouldn't mind staying overnight from a Saturday to a Sunday and turn the meet into a little getaway.)

Ellen, you can but there are certain rooms he won't be allowed in. Both Foxwoods and Mohegan have fabulous arcades to keep kids happy. If you bring someone who can trade off staying with him so you can take breaks and investigate other areas, so much the better. But there are also great shops and restaurants, so it's not all about the gambling. I'm not a huge gambler, but I have been to the casinos for booksignings and dining oppotunities. Lots to do, if you ever decide to try them out even if we don't end up meeting there.

For me, the only weekends that would work in March are the weekend of the 14th and the weekend of the 28th. I would not be able to do Sunday the 16th, as I will be on a plane to Israel.
Ideally, the best date is the 15th or the 29th or 30th.

Also, I will be doing my New England Meet probably in Feb, but it will be in MA, so just so you know.

If I'm home and attending the meet, I will pick you both up, so you don't have to take a long train ride.

Ellen, can you and Ben go to Bethany's place? She lives 15 minutes away from me down the Bronx River Parkway, so it would be easy to grab both you there and make our way up to Connecticut.

It looks as if I can make any weekend in March. I only have one outstanding event but it will be in CT and NOT on a weekend. I am so happy to be able to come. It's a small state so I will be able to attend wherever but are there any objections to meeting at Rainforest again?

If anything falls through with Jared picking up the NY people I will be more than happy to pick up anyone who needs a ride at the New Haven train station.

I *should* (if everything works out) be in Boston for a conference March 9 - 12, but unfortunately I'm not driving. I wish I could make it to CT! But if there are any Boston people who would like to meet for dinner one of those days shoot me a PM!

So far the only info I have gleaned is that we might have the meet either on Saturday, March 8 or March 15.

I'm going to send out a message to people who were at the last meet, see if they are interested too. If you know anyone who is in CT (or close by) who might be interested in joining us, please guide them to the thread!

I can ONLY do the 15th...so definitely my vote is for that

...and it works perfectly in my schedule, as I will be boarding a plane for Tel Aviv the next afternoon, and be staying overnite the 15th in Hamden anyway!

March 15 looks good for me now, but it is close to the DH's birthday. As long as we don't decide to go away for that event (probably not), I'm in. I would like to give a more definite answer, but I just can't be 100 % sure right now.

Latest update:

I just got my act together and sent out info to people who might not have seen the thread. I'm looking for a spot to have the meet -- only ideas so far are finding a nice restaurant in New Haven, or going to one of the casinos. Any ideas welcome!

The date will be Saturday, March 15th. That is definitely set.

Greg, I'm not sure I'm going to make the Feb meet.... I'm currently negotiating with my husband and also trying to find a date for my daughter's 5th birthday party. Unfortunately it looks like that date might be her party.
