humble request for pixie dust
I'm three days away from our trip and we (DH, two DDs and I) are all very excited.
Problem: About two weeks ago I started not feeling right, stomach issues but nothing very definite, so I thought maybe it was a mild virus.
Well, this past Friday I went to my doc in the a.m. and he said it's probably a virus and to call him if things got worse. Things got worse!! I developed severe abdominal pains and went to the emergency room that evening, thinking I had appendicitis.
Several tests later, nothing conclusive except for a "distended gallbladder" showing up on my CT scan. Now my doc thinks maybe it's gallbladder issues or gallstones, so I'm going for the ultrasound this Friday (the day before our vacation!).
I've been so healthy the past few years with nary a cold that this is one of those "why now?" moments in life!! I'm tired and the pain ebbs and flows.
So, long story short, if any of you kind souls out there wouldn't mind tossing some pixie dust my way and saying a few prayers, I would really appreciate it!
Just want to enjoy our wonderful trip to the happiest place on earth...
Then deal with this silliness when I return!!
Thanks to one and all....

Here is some pixie dust in hopes that you have an enjoyable vacation!
Last year I had gallstones and I had my gallbladder removed. While your on vacation try to stay away from spicey and greasy foods, it might cause a flare up.
Good luck and have a happy trip!

Sending LOADS of pixie dust!
I had my gallbladder out laproscopically in 2002. Heed the advice about fatty, greasy and spicy foods to help control any problems. I lived on plain rice cakes and fat free cheese for 2 months before my gallbladder came out in pursuit of no flare ups. It's no fun and I feel for you.
Let us know how it all works out for you after the ultrasound.

Oh I'm sorry you even have to have this on your mind during your trip. Thats probably the worst part. You just want to go, have fun, be with your family without having to think about, well, things. Mind your diet and you should be fine for the trip. I wish you a healthy happy trip. We are leaving tomorrow!

We may see you there! We are leaving Sat. 11/17 and are also staying at the Poly (I think that's where you're staying?).
We're a family of four: tall, bald (but devastatingly handsome) DH and two gorgeous DDs, one with beautiful long red hair and the other with very dark hair!
I hope you have a wonderful trip too.
And thanks again to everyone for all the kind words, thoughts and prayers. I wish I didn't love food so much...it'll be tough avoiding all the goodies (AND we're on the dining plan!)... But there are so many choices I'm sure I'll have no trouble finding good things to eat.

Mousetrapper! Yes! We are arriving at the CR tomorrow for the first part of our trip, then moving to the Poly! I will look for the long red hair. My 11 yo DD has long (to her ummm..hiney) curly, curly, curly, brown hair, and my DS has longish (for a boy) curly, curly, curly dark hair. My other DD is wavy and dark blonde. Lets look for the hair! Or not the hair! (If I look for your handsome DH!!)
Yeah, It is tough avoiding the food. I don't think theres anything I like about having to avoid the food..but, you know, you may have different news after your test on Friday. You never know. So don't have a game plan yet! Maybe it will be better than you think.

Lots of pixie dust heading your way from cold new jersey! I hope you start to feel better soon. My mom had some gall bladder problems last spring and found that if she avioded certain food she was less likely to get sick. Enjoy your trip and feel better!

Lots of good thoughts and coming your way.
I had my gallbladder removed back in 2000. You got lots of great tips. Especially the drink lots of water and avoid greasy/fatty foods. I still have to do that even now. One thing that was always an issue for me was dairy, especially ice cream.
