DS Left for Boot Camp

My DS enlisted in the Marine Corps and left for basic training this morning. He'll be gone for 13 weeks and will not be home for the holidays. I will miss him.

Where is your son doing Basic? My best buddy here at work did Basic the same time of the year and said that it was hard to miss the holidays but from what his buddies said it was WAY better than doing it in the heat of the summer!

I just wanted to say THANKS for raising such an honorable young man. Even though I don't know you or your son, I appreciate the sacrifice he (and your entire family) are making. I'm sure the holidays will be hard for you, but I hope you find comfort in knowing he is doing something very imporatant.....serving his country. That must make you very proud! Thanks for all your support. He is headed to Fort Dix and then on to Parris Island, SC for basic. He could have started basic in July, but chose to delay it until the fall.

You must be so proud -- I am sorry your son will be gone over the holidays, I've watched a co-worker of mine go through the same thing, and I know it's hard. But he is doing a wonderful service for his country, and we are all so grateful - thank you for raising someone who is willing to put themselves second to protect the rest of us.
