Well , thanks to the army we have to change our dates.. we are now going in Jan the 2nd to the 9th. Is this going to be a good time and is there anything special goin on?

Nothing special after the 1st of the year, just the removal of all the Holiday Decorations. There's a good chance Small World and Haunted Mansion will both be closed as they remove their Hoiday Overlays. Sorry to hear about the changes to your plans ...

Other than closures do the after holidays changes and a chance of rain and chilly weather, it's a good time to visit the park. Very low crowds (weekends are even typically light right after New Years), but park hours will be cut to low season, so there will only be fireworks on the weekends and Disney will typicall close at 9pm Monday-Thursday, with DCA closing at 6pm. Weekends will be the regular Midnight closing.
