touring Plans in Sept.

For those of you that use touring plans, is it necessary in September after Labor Day when the crowds are lower?

I've gone 3 times in Sept and never used a touring plan. The sooner after labor day you go, the less crowded. If you go towards the end of Sept it is busier and I would just plan on fast passing really popular stuff. Otherwise the wait times aren't too bad. When in Sept are you going??
