ABC, ESPN in Cox Deal for On-Demand Shows

    Reuters
    May 8, 2007

NEW YORK - Walt Disney Co.'s ABC and ESPN have struck a deal with Cox Communications Inc. to offer shows on demand, with the condition that Cox disables a feature that allows viewers to skip ads, the Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site on Tuesday.

The agreement, which is expected to be announced on Tuesday at the National Cable Television Association's annual convention in Las Vegas, only applies to programs available on Cox's video-on-demand menu, the Journal said.

Walt Disney and Cox could not immediately be reached for comment.

    Then what's the point?

No thanks, I'll stick with my Tivo until they start this as well. Then I'll go homebrew DVR...

The "feature"...you mean, the "fast forward button"???

I have Cox cable. The "On Demand" channel freezes up more than the arctic in winter. EVERY time I try to go on there just to even see what is available, my DVR box crashes.

I am not moved by this news at all....
