DH will be going to a bachelor party in AC one Saturday night this summer for his cousin. DD (age 12) and I want to tag along and spend time on the beach and then go to dinner when DH is at the party. Everyone at the party is from the AC area and won't need accomodations. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel that won't cost an arm and a leg. The casinos seem to be around $400 for a Saturday night!!!!! We don't want to spend more than $100-$150. Is this possible in AC? Thanks.

We've stayed at Harrah's, Tropicana, and the Sheraton and have been happy with all three. I also stayed at a Days Inn just off the boardwalk a while back. Check the cheap hotel site (hotels dot com) and try to call the casinos. Unfortunately, summer is prime season and if you aren't willing to pay what they are asking, someone else is. Also, if you are not a smoker, make sure to get there right at check in time to get a non-smoking room or you may not be able to get one. Good luck, have fun!

    Thumbs up Holiday Inn

The Holiday Inn on the Boardwalk is very nice. We have stayed there and I think it's in your price range. It is beside the Tropicana Casino. Look on the internet for their prices. It is right on the Boardwalk and by the beach and many good eating places. Hope I helped and have a great time.

Please be careful where you stay. AC is not a place that you want to venture far from the casinos/boardwalk/beach. It may be worth spending the money and stay at one of the casinos.

I second this post. There are cheap motels in AC, but most are very seedy and usually next to those "we'll buy your gold for cash" places.

I'd recommend looking at ratings on Trip Advisor or one of the other travel sites before booking anything. It's definitely worth it for safety alone to pay a little more to stay at one of the casinos. The Tropicana is actually sometimes one of the less expensive ones. Last time we were there, it was kind of outdated and cheesy, but inexpensive and we felt safe.

I don't think you'll find a decent hotel on a Sat. night in the Summer for that price. Even the Hampton Inn out on the Black Horse Pike (a few miles inland) goes for $200. If you don't mind driving a little more inland you might find something. Whatever you do, if you see a motel for $30, don't stay there.

For that amount of money, you will definitely need to drive a ways down either the black or white horse pike. While the casinos are great to visit, I wouldn't want to get caught away from them at night - not a very "safe" town. Last time I looked into staying at one of the casinos, I think the Hilton & Tropicana were the cheapest, but a Saturday night in the summer will cost you big $$

We stayed at this same Holiday Inn a few years ago. It was the cleanest hotel I had ever stayed in! But I think we paid more like $300.....at first we thought they were nuts to ask that much, but after driving around and asking at other hotels, we willingly drove back to the Holiday Inn and stayed there.

Hmmm, if I were you, I would try to go either north or south 10 to 20 miles along the Parkway. The beaches there would be much nicer and in a much better area. I hardly ever go to AC because I don't like to gamble all that much and besides the casino's I don't think there is anything else there. But if you just go a few miles north or south there are great beaches in much nicer resort areas. The ride would be 20 to 30 mins and worth it!

The problem with the Jersey Shore in the summer time is hotels are very very expensive. It really does not matter where you are along the coast it will be well over $100. Last year for my sons graduation it was impossible to get rooms for all the family coming in from New England and it was still June! Your best bet is to try and go inland about 10 to 15 miles. But believe me the shore is worth it! A fun palce for you and daughter to hang out in the "The Quarter" at the Tropicana lots of choices for dinner and some interesting shops.
