Our Birthday Grand Gathering in the Rain
Hello to the Intercot board. This is my first attempt at a trip report so I will do what I know. Talk. Yes I'm a talker.
The reason for this fantastic trip was my DD one's 40th birthday and my DD two's DH 60th birthday. Surprises to them. This started over the New Year holiday when we were all visiting DD one and family. We sneaky ones decided since these were milestone birthdays we needed to make it special for everyone. Many places came to mind but nothing grabbed us. So when we came back home DD two and I decided Disney was the place to go. Made us happy who cares about the others. We planned so they will join.
So when searching the Disney website and finding the great deal of buy 4 get 3 free it made our job much easier to plan.
We set the dates for May 23 through May 30, 2009. We booked at Port Orleans Riverside. Three rooms for nine people.
Here is when you get to meet this crazy family.
So bear with me and I will introduce this large cast of characters.
My name is Ginny. I love Disney and all things Disney. I have passed that to DD two. I love to travel when possible and love my family so a trip together makes a perfect match.
Then my DH of 42 years. He is the one who puts up with all my whims. He likes Disney, but doesn't love it. Still working for that magic day of retirement.
Next would be DD one. Lives too far from us with her DH and son DGS three. Her big birthday. Not a lover of Disney as little sis and mom but likes to go so we knew she would be in.
Her DH is a good guy and wanted to do something special for her so he was up for our plans. This was his first time visit to Disney. EVER! I don't know he has lived 40 years and not gone.
They have my baby grandson so he is known as DGS three. He too has never been to Disney but I don't blame him. He is just 11 so how would he know what he has missed.
Then we start the family that lives near me (less than a mile). That would be DD two. She is my baby and thrilled that her sis is 40 and she's not. Her turn will come for sure. The real Disney lover.
Her DH is the big 60. Yes older than me by six weeks. Don't think I don't love to rub that one in. My middle grandson used to say if his Dad were a year older than he and Grandpa could be twins. Nothing like little boys and their logic.
They have oldest DGS one. He is 18 and is a senior in high school. They sure grow up too fast. He is a good kid and is a big teaser. Normally very quiet but once he gets wound up a regular hoot.
Then last is DGS two. He just turned 15 and is driving for now. Lucky Mom and Dad. He is a total kook. He is a sophomore in high school.
Now that you have met us I think that is enough for a while. Absorb this then I will add more.
Hope I wasn't too wordy and someone will read and comment on my report.
I have no idea how to do pictures. Sorry
Ginny
Our Birthday Grand Gathering in the Rain Pt 2
So now we are set. The resort ressies are made, Yay. We just need to plan our days and our meals. That is when. I checked the resorts on the Disney website and realized that 6 adults and 3 boys (two of which are over 6 foot and the other 5 feet) could not sleep in double beds and and trundle. (I'm the shortest and I would get the trundle. YCH. I found the resort of resorts. CSR. New rennovations, new queen sized beds. Who could ask for more. Ok, so now once again we are set. Kinda.
We knew we would arrive Saturday afternoon, get to the resort in time to turn around and go to MCO to pick up the out of state group. Remember it is a surprise for DD one. She had no idea we were going to be there.
So we planned on MK Saturday night, MK Sunday, AK Monday, Epcot Tuesday, MGM (sorry) Wednesday, Epcot Thursday and Friday where anybody wanted to go.
Our meals chosen were Chef Mickey's Sunday evening, Ohana breakfast Tuesday (the actual day of the birthday son in law), Planet Hollywood lunch on Wednesday and Hollywood and Vine with Fantasmic on Thursday.
So since I have already changed resorts would we be able to keep the rest of the plans made?
