Just curious how everyone travels down to WDW. We are fortunate to live close enough to drive and save money (Atlanta) but occasionally we'll fly down if we find a great deal. The drive is only about 7 hours door-step to door-step for us.

I can NOT imagine having to wait 10 hours to get to Disney in a car! 2 hours in a plane is enough time for anticipation for me!
We live in Kansas City, but still drive. Of course, we camp at Ft. Wilderness, so if we didn't drive, we wouldn't have our camper!:mickey:
We always fly. We are just too far away to drive.
It depends on the price of airfare for us. We are just over 10 hours away-so driving is reasonable but an inexpensive direct flight is our perfered mode of travel.
We will be driving for the 1st time this September. If we were to drive straight down, it would take a little over 10 hours, but we will be stopping overnight in Savannah, GA.
I live in northern Virginia, and we always drive. It's about a 14 hour drive for us, but my Dad likes to drive. The only bad thing is traffic. On our last trip, we had to sit in a total of 2 hours of traffic. The only time we've ever flown was in 1997, and I think that's because there was a great deal or something. My mom hates to fly, so that's why we always drive. Plus, it's alot cheaper to drive.
We have flown to WDW. Too far to drive even when we lived in Virginia. And the fact that I wouldn't want to lose vacation days to driving.
We've done both. If we are on a long vacation during the summer, we always drive. If it's a short getaway for MNSSHP, we fly. Either way, the destination makes the trip worthwhile!:mickey:
We fly because it is just too hard with 3 kids to drive I have huge age gaps. Also, my husband can only take a certain amount of time off of work so it would cut into our trip...we wouldn't want that...lol.
I posed driving this year to save money and DH said...."NO". So we found a great flight deal!!!!
We fly, if not it would be a three day commute down there. The advantage would be, we would have our own car.
Every time I think of driving, I just watch National Lampoon's Vacation and that thought quickly goes away. ;)
However, we usually do drive part-way to Dallas (about 6 hours, each way), and then fly from D/FW. It's usually about $4-500 cheaper than flying from home (even after figuring in the extra gas and food costs), and it gives us an excuse to visit family in the area.
Growing up we always drove and it took about a day and a half. Dad is scared to death of flying and loves to drive so we didn't have the option. Since we started going without Dad, we decided that we would never go anyway but flying--a 2 hour flight is so much better! Of course, we may have to reconsider if Dad ever decides to join us again. Maybe he can drive and we'll fly! :thedolls:
We fly but it would be nice and different to drive down on one trip.
We've always flown when it comes to Disney but we have made the drive down to Florida a few times before. I've recently become a little nervous about flying (understandable because my last few flights have been HORRIBLE) but I'm far too impatient when it comes to Disney to take all that time in the car! :)
:mickey: Well, I don't care to fly, my wife never has, and our two babies, Mattie,(dachsund mix) and Jennie,(beagle mix) bark and growl at planes, and wag their tails when asking them if they want to go for a ride in the car. They are going with us so we will drive.LOL We live in upper middle TN and the drive can be fun, and the anticipation grows each mile that falls by the wayside. :drill: Drive that car son! Eyes on the road!
Fly - don't like to waste vacation time driving. Plane, ME & Disney transportation for my family
We fly. Coming from New Zealand, there is no other option! :) The long flights are torture, admittedly. Luckily, we are breaking up the trip home this year with a stop at Disneyland for a couple of days.
We always drive. It takes us a little over twelve hours if everything goes well. :mickey: The drive down is always a lot of fun, the drive home can be depressing.:( We hate to leave!
