Monica, you should have fun reading through this thread. There are many Jon and Kate plus 8 fans here!

YAY!! I just love this show! I check their website regularly to see when the DVD's come out. I also read that Kate is writing a book soon. That should be interesting to read.
I agree with some on how Kate has her quirks. The part where she doesn't like the feet to touch the floor in the hotel is just crazy to me. But everyone has their own things they just do.
I too, wish they had shown more footage from their WDW trip. Looks like they only did MK, but I wonder if they got to go to other parks? Seems like Jon would love ToT and RnRC? Maybe they did go, but only showed the MK parts?
Oh yes, Mel, when they flew over Denver! I too am shocked Kate didn't break down more! She was rather shook up about the whole ordeal. Her friends are true gems to have in their lives - helping out all the time, going on trips with them. God Bless them.
I just think they are the cutest couple and their kids are so precious! I'm glad to see there are other Jon & Kate Plus 8! fans out there!! :D
They did another show with some different clips of other shows (hope that makes sense) they showed them at La Nouba. The clowns were messing with Kate.
I believe in one of the other episodes...I think it was the "behind the scenes" or something...they mentioned that they spent like 4 days at Disney and then went down to Vero Beach to visit some of Jon's family. They showed the kids at the beach freaking out because it was windy!!
I'm such a huge fan of this show!! And I don't even have kids so I can't really relate! But it's still fun to watch. Jon and Kate are the cutest couple!!!
ME TOO! I've got no kids, and I can't relate either, but it just makes me happy to watch their show...especially if I'm not feeling well. Yes, they are a cute couple!!
I saw this episode as well. I'm glad they got to go and see La Nouba! It was funny when the clows were messing with Kate!
I love this show as well! Jon and Kate are so authentic with each other. I also enjoy watching the shows about the Dugger family (with 17 kids). But the difference is that everything is happy-happy, joy-joy with the Duggers, whereas Jon and Kate seem very real.
Amy
:dory:
I don't have any children either but I love this show. Kate does get a little too uptight sometimes but overall they seem like a great family. :mickey:
I saw this that the Disney episode was on last night so I recorded it and I ended up loving it so much that I have it set to record all episodes. My brother walked in and saw Kate during a meltdown and said that she was a witch, and I asked him how he would deal with 8kids under 6 years old. I babysat my baby cousin today for 4 hours and as much as I love her, I was so ready when my aunt came to pick her up, so I think what Kate and Jon do is amazing.
Also, I totally love Kate's quirks. I am also an organized person and like Jon, I'm a neat-freak. I also wear socks/shoes in resorts and my future kids will have to, as well. I found that part hilarious.
this is a family show we can watch together. I have two boys and they are 4 and 9 and sometimes they can be a much. It makes me feel better when I watch the show because when I see the chaos found there. I know I would be much worse than Kate is. I'm sure we all would be just like Kate if not worse if we were in this kind of family life. We love the show and it is great entertainment.
Finally saw the Disney episode last night. I wish they would've shown more! They were there for 5 days! The only time I felt Kate over reacted was with the ice cream... as a kid I can't tell you how many times I spilled my ice cream on my shirt. My parents never took it away from me, they just wiped off what they could and let me finish my ice cream. It never ruined my day. Sometimes kids get messy...it's all part of being a kid!

I also wish that they would have shown more. I was dissapointed that more than half the episode was them traveling there and back. They have season DVD's coming out- maybe they will have extras clips from their Disney vacation on there. I also thought that she reacted way too over the top and then when they asked her later if she thinks she overreacted she said no.
:mickey:
I think she overreacts about many things! Honestly, I don't like her very much at all. And I really feel sorry for Jon and the way she treats him like :thedolls:.
I also don't like the way she pimps out her kids to get what she wants, but that's another topic for another day...
I too hope on the DVD's they will show extra footage...especially the WDW trip! I was so upset that they only focused on the trip down and not alot on the trip at WDW.
I know in another episode they showed them at La Nouba and that was cool! I'm glad they got to see that b/c it's a great show!
I saw on their website you can pre-order their book, but on Amazon it says it doesn't come out til Novemeber!!!
I was poking around their website last night and came across something I'd never really thought about. In the FAQs section, they mention that the kids do have grandparents, but they aren't involved in their everyday life.
I'd never wondered about Jon and Kate's parents for whatever reason, but now I'm intrigued. Has anyone read or seen anything about their families (besides Kate's brother and SIL, of course)?
They mentioned once on an episode (not sure what one it was) that they did have grandparents but like you said, they were not involved in there every day lives. It so wierd because you think the grandparents would step up and offer to help Jon and Kate but we never see them. I always thought it was strange that they had so many babysitters and friends watching the children but never any of Jon and Kate's parents. The only thing that I can think of is that both sets of parents don't want to be involved in the show. :mickey:Quote:

I'm pretty sure on the 3 year old b-day party Jon's grandmother was there. If I'm not mistaken it's partially a distance issue for them?
Not sure about Kate's parents however.
In the episode where they take the kids to the dentist, Jon mentions that his dad died a couple of years ago. His dad was a dentist and the dentist that they took the kids to was the one that took over his father's practice when he passed away. As for the others, it's true you really don't hear them mentioned.
I love Jon & Kate Plus 8!
I only had 3 kids and believe me there were times that I was a lot more "witchy" than Kate even comes close to being. I think the thing we have to remember here is that this WDW trip was for more than 5 days and we saw it cut down to one half hour with commercials. I can only guess at how many times ice cream and who knows what else got spilt.
And as to how she treats Jon, how many of us have not been so angry at our spouces that visions of Divorce Court haven't played in our minds. And we don't even have a TV crew in our faces.
The remark about them (I'm not going to use the word the poster did) making money off the kids wasn't very nice. I think they've made a good choice of what the opitions might have been as to how to afford about 4 more kids than they ever thought would given to them.
OK, I'm now stepping off my soapbox.
 to Kate and Jon, you're doing a better job than most of us would be in your situation.
In that episode they showed an older woman and Kate called her "Nana" or something along those lines. I believe that they said she was a family friend but she wasn't a real grandparent.Quote:

You're right, I forgot about that. Thanks for sharing! :mickey:Quote:

I LOVE this show... I truly feel like the whole dynamic Jon and Kate have going is EXACTLY like my bf and I.... if we got landed with eight children down the road. (Makes my hair stand up on end thinking about it!)
I feel like she is not mean or witchy, she's just super organized and a little uptight at times because she has to be. Think about the ice cream situation - if you have on or two children that make a mess, you put some stain stick on it, maybe run it through the wash a few times, and you're good... buy a new outfit if all else fails. With EIGHT kids, though? They can't afford to just replace ruined clothing all of the time, and she mentioned on a show recently how much time she spends in a week on stain removal, so I can understand her being stressed. Some people are just a little more neat-freakish than others, and I'm very like her, so I can get it.
I can totally relate to Kate on this issue. We have two daughters, ages 7 & 10, and we still spend a good amount of time on stain removal. We go through Shout like you wouldn't believe. My kids where uniforms to school (the standard khaki bottoms, white shirts) and it is so hard to find replacements for soiled shirts and pants during this time of the year so we try very hard to preserve what they have. I couldn't imagine having 6 more kids with those same issues. I'd be just as "uptight" as Kate with the ice cream issue.
I guess it's a "to each their own" sort of thing. But really, permanent stains from vanilla ice cream was not the issue in the episode. I mean I've spilled chocolate soft serve on a baseball jersey as an adult and it came out in the wash with no additional stain treatment. I think her issue in that particular instance was the kids being sticky for the rest of the day, not the cost of stain removal, which to me was a bit of an overreaction. Having been a day camp counselor for 8 years I can say that I would never expect one 3 year old, let alone 6 to neatly eat ice cream on a hot day when they are hungry. Being as prepared as she normally is, I would've thought she'd have anticipated a potentially sticky situation and have handled it a bit better. HOWEVER, overall I think she is a great mom, and she really has those kids in line. I can't even imagine how stressful their life must be, and I certainly give her plenty of leniency to get frustrated and annoyed from time to time.
I just started watching this show and honestly, Kate doesn't bother me. She is pretty controlling and whiny at times, but nothing compared to that one child of hers! Good Grief, that Maddie seems to be perpetually throwing a fit or whining about something! All I keep thinking during the show is that little girl would have a perpetual "time out" if she were mine lol!
I am still trying to figure out how Kate can manage to sleep until 8 am with 8 kids!
Wendy
Yeah, Mady just seems to be always whining about something. I know, in the past few episodes, when Jon & Kate have taken an individual child on an outing, and Mady has to go to Aunt Jodi's, she seems to be so bossy. As Kate mentioned she just has sibling rivalry. I'm glad they are working on her behavior though. As Wendy said, she'd definitely have many "time outs" with me!!
My mom watched it with me the other night. Her first time, my..well too many to count b/c I LOVE this show. She was just surprised at how Kate talks to Jon, etc. But other than that she loved the show and was so impressed on how Kate keeps them all well behaved.
My mom was laughing at all the kids, the other night when they 'found' Jon hiding in the closet! That was a cute episode! :D
I love the kids different personalities. I also love Jon's personality. He reminds me of the guys in my family. Always so silly. And Kate reminds me of the organized, clean women in my family. But Kate does know how to be silly and Jon knows how to be serious. They are the perfect match.
We actually DVR this show. Love it! We are always joking that Mady is like our almost 12 year-old daughter. She will always have her moments and certainly likes to be in charge. My 6 year-old son likes Aiden--the "professor" with all his love for animals. They are all so cute and my husband and I like watching Jon and Kate together. I am not as super organized clean-freak as she is, but I do think I know better about stuff and get eyes rolled at me a lot.
I love this show, too. I've been recommending it to everyone. At first, I was the only one watching in my house, but now I have my teenagers hooked on it as well. As far as Kate's behavior, I weigh in with those that think she's authentic and does a fantastic job in her situation. It's nice to see a somewhat 'real' reality show.
By the way, does anyone know when they appear on Oprah? I see that tomorrow night's 'Jon and Kate' is the one where they go to the Oprah show, but I'd like to see the Oprah episode, too.
I think the Oprah episode has already aired. I remember watching parts of it back before I had ever seen Jon and Kate. The Disney episode got me addicted to the show, so I can't wait to see what happened on the way to Oprah!
Does anyone know when the DVD's come out?
The Oprah episode aired a while back, that was when I actually started watching the show, so now I am OBSESSED with needing to watch the Disney episode! I actually wish they would re-air the first season so I could catch up (This is only season 2 is it not?)
I admire them for how well they parent 8 kids, Kate is so organized, but she NEEDS to be. I think it is great that they make time for each child individually and they they introduce them to cooking classes, etc.
Mine and DH parents all came from big families (my dad was 1 of 11, mom was 1 of 6, MIL 1 of 11 and FIL 1 of 4) - to them, I am sure 8 is normal, to me, I can't even imagine!!!
FInally got to watch the Disney episode! What a great one, I laughed at it, but in a good way. What mom doesn't carry baby wipes???? I carry them and my youngest is 4! When did they go? There was hardly anyone there! I loved the Tea Cup part, Kate is yelling at John that he is spinning the thing when he wasn't, how funny!I am proud of myself, I took 4 kids with me in my 20's one time and did great for the day. Until I get back to Florida permanently, I will never ever complain about my little 6.5 hour drive again after watching them haul their kids and a U-haul for 19 hours!!
Jon and Kate is one of my favorite shows!!!
Hannah is one of my favorites. In the disney episode, she was folding some towels it was so cute. I watched the most recent episode last night. It was the one where Jon and Kate went to LA to have Jon have hair transplant surgery.
Kevin and Jodi had to take care of 10 of the kids including 4 of their own plus some of the kids were sick with the flu. At the end, Kate had to take staples out of Jon's head. I thought this episode was great.
I agree, Hannah is such a sweetheart.
For anyone who didn't know, the Gosselins went to Disney in August!
Yes, this is my #1 favorite show to watch...but last nights, I had to fast forward some parts...I just don't like all that gory stuff they showed!
I really can't wait too until next Monday's episodes. I like to see how they were pre-kids! :D
I loved seeing the preview of their engagement, how cute! No wonder why they have 8 adorable kids ;)
The hair thing grossed me out big time. But how about 2 big  for Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin for taking care of 12 kids while J & K were gone?! That would be enough to drive me out of my skull! Plus they were sick to boot!
I was reading back a big and saw lots of comments about Mady. I think she's a good kid, that just needs some attention. Having said that, I'm in the process of planning a trip with a kid who is roughly that same age. She loves the show too, and we continualy talk about how we will not be "pulling any Mady's" while we are at WDW...I'm not good enough to deal with that mess!
Jon and Kate and kids are going to be on the Today Show tomorrow. Should be interesting!
