I want to thank everybody for the thoughts and prayers. I think it worked.
We finally after almost a week, got good news from the cancer guy (Onacolgist?? can't spell it). The colon cancer is contained and a Cat 2, so hasn't spread to the surrounding organs (liver, kidney, etc). If the blockage hadn't occurred, it probably would have stayed a Cat 1. But it swelled everything up. Since there was the blockage, that's why she had to have a lot of her colon rerouted and most of the tumor removed. Now we get her better so we can get her out of the hospital and get her stronger. Than she can tackle the chemo. At least it doesn't look like a second surgery in her future.
We never gave up hope but been a long week. Thanks again everybody and wanted to let you know, it's meant a lot to me and my family.

Traci, I was so glad to hear that your Mom was going to be going home soon. I'm sure there were some stressful moments during that week.
Best wishes and pixie dust to your Mom for a speedy recovery!

Update on my mom is that she's doing good. They moved her on the Monday after Labor day to a convalensce/rehabilitation center for the rest of her recovery. We were relieved that we have the buffer inbetween since she really wasn't ready to come home. The hospital was full so they couldn't do her rehab there. She really likes the nurses and people at the center. She was disappointed that she couldn't get out this weekend. But the physical therapist said if you were my mom, I wouldn't suggest it. Once I told her, do you want to go home and fall and come right back here? If you stay another few days its better. She then agreed and said well I haven't listened to you guys so far, maybe I should.
They are doing physical therapy on her twice each morning. Over the weekend she finally was able to walk down the hall on her own. She's off on the pain medication. And she's looking better and better. It was her birthday today so we took her in a big cake yesterday which we shared with the nursing staff.
My dad's sister is going to move in with her when she gets home so at least I'll have that assistance. She's been with my mom at the hospital and this week so much of the time. Its helping me out so much. She has worked in these type of facilities and knows so much more than I can ever think about.
What the future holds, we're not even thinking that far ahead. We go day by day and get over each hurdle to getting her better. I feel blessed I have so many friends here that have been there for me during all this. I want to thank all the thoughts and prayers. I know its helped and it still means so much to me.

It's great to hear you mom is doing so much better!
Its funny when my grandma was in the hospital we told her the exact same thing as far as wanting to go home. I mean I totally understand not wanting to be there anymore. But we said what happens if you go home and something happens to you then you'll be back here and possibly for longer. She agreed and didn't argue anymore ;)
Here is some more :pixie: :pixie: for a speedy recovery!
