Here is what I have found - and I just got talked into going for a FIFTH time this year by my family . . .
The parade by Splash Mtn/Golden Horseshoe is less crowded, but the lighting IMO is very poor.
Mainstreet is the most lively spot with the best lighting, but the crowds are the worst there.
Last year I watched it by the American Experience. The lighting was acceptable and the crowds were really light. I think I will seek out that location again this year.

I love Main Street. Yes the crowds are bad but it's the best experience. The lighting is great, the crowd usually has a very fun time (clapping and singing) and it snows on Main Street. I love it!

Thank you for all the help!!! i think i want to be on main street because of the snow, we are from Houston area where it never snows, so i think my boys would like that.
One of our favorite spots is on the Main Street bridge, between the Hub and Casey's/Ice Cream Parlor. You get a great shot up and down Main Street, plus, you're already in a great spot for fireworks and don't have to move :)
