just curious - has anybody ever seen or had an encounter with a celebrity in the parks? They must go there too; just wondering if anybody has a story to share! (I asked this a few years ago and somebody said they saw nicholas cage!)

Last year (we were there March 28-April 5) my DH SWEARS he saw Ron Jeremy at EPCOT. This was before we even started our beer tour, and the DH is pretty good with faces. I went skipping down the concourse to catch a glimpse, but I didn't see him so I can't confirm it. Scary thought, Ron Jeremy at WDW!

I also saw Michael Jackson. Portions of Pleasure Island closed for him the night we were there. He was leaving one club and going to another with his huge band of bodyguards surrounding him. I happened to be right where he was coming downstairs and as he passed he said hello to my sister and me. By then people had seen him and swarmed over to where he was...a little scary to be in a such a large crowd pushing toward you. I wasn't a big fan, but it was still cool to see him. I can't remember what year it was exactly, but I'm thinking early 90s.

In 2000 we saw Hulk Hogan when we were exiting Splash Mountain. He was waiting for some people who were getting off too. My brother went up and asked if it was him and he said it was and shook his hand.

I saw Kelly Rippa and her kids getting off PotC in the gift shop. She was with some disney guides (or some type of CM). She was with that guy from the soap opera shows (her husband I think).

While I was a CM at DLR I saw:

Tommy Lee and Pam Anderson
Kristian Alfonso and Victor Alfieri (Days of our Lives)
Casey and Jean Kasem

My first WDW trip we were in line at Primeval Whirl chit chatting with Usher and Chili!! I didn't even realize it was them, we were just being friendly!! DH told me after we left, I felt stupid for not even recognizing them and asking for a pix or something :(

I think that's it...

When we were there in April '02 we saw Joey Lawrence browsing the shops in France. The same day we also heard from CMs that John Stamos was in the parks, but we didn't see him, although I would have liked to.

We saw David Copperfield at the Indiana Jones show in MGM. Before the show people kept running down to take his picture. After awhile he stood up w/ a camera and started taking the audiences pictures. Not sure if he was being funny or sending a message. This was sometime in the mid-90's when I believe he was going to create an attraction with Disney at MGM. I remember there being a sign out front but I can't recall what it was supposed to be. Anybody else remember this?

In February '06 my DS was at Epcot wearing his Teddy Bruschi jersey (NE Patriots) when someone tapped him on his shoulder -- it was Teddy Bruschi!!! My son was by himself at the time and speechless! I wish I could have been there. Also during that trip I saw someone who looked so much like George Lucas at MGM. Later that night at Fantasmic I heard people talking about having seen George Lucas that day, so I guess I DID see him! It was a great trip. Oh, how I miss WDW:(

Way back, when I was in middle school (I am now in my 30s), my brother spotted Doug Flutie. My dad wouldn't let us say anything and told us to respect his space and let him be with his family. Last February, we saw Bob Kraft in Magic Kingdom and my dad walked right up to him and said hello. Mr. Kraft then gave my 14 month old son (who happened to be wearing a Patriots hat) a pin with the Lombardi trophy and Patriots symbol on it. We give my dad a hard time, since he never let my brother or I talk to any celebrities we saw when we were younger. He was so happy to meet Mr. Kraft and tell him how much he loves the Patriots. My DH was quite excited too. Now, all they talk about is how they didn't ask to get a picture with him!

In '94, my wife and I were taking the bus from Pleasure Island to the Grand Floridian. At the Poly stop, Bret Michaels from Poison got on with a trampy looking girl. They sat down on the inward facing seats at the front. He then pulled his cowboy hat down over his face.

Two or three years ago, we were at the face painting tent at ToonTown, We heard some commotion and saw people pointing at someone. I looked down the walkway at who they were pointing at and saw a tall black man with long hair walking away toward the Tea Cups. I asked a CM who it was, and she said it was James Brown.

Well back when I used to work in the parks, I saw a bunch of celebrities, even got to meet a few of them.

But as a guest...let me see...

Once I was coming out of SGE and accidently bumped into this "goth/punk" looking guy with tons of tattoos (once of which said MOM or something like that). Then I saw that there were a couple of other "punk" looking guys with him and they had a guide. Turns out it was Good Charlotte...although I wasn't that impressed b/c I don't like their music! :D

Also, this past September when I was back working in Marketing at WDW, my fiancee and I literally almost ran into Kathy Ireland :eyes:. So I made a crack that Kathy was stalking me...and no joke 2 more times throughout the day we turned around and boom...there she was and almost ran into her again.

Was she really stalking me...all signs point to yes!

how is it that all these people are just walking around with the rest of us?? Don't they get mobbed?

In many cases they don’t walk around like everyone else. They are allowed to use special back area entrances to rides and attractions. It is still not clear to me if this is supplied to celebrities for free or if anyone can pay for a “special guide”. Here is a link to a discussion we had a while ago about these perks http://www.intercot.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=79284

I don’t know who would mob or even care about a “celebrity”. To me there are plenty of people who deserve my respect and maybe special treatment at WDW, I would include many of the people staying at Shades of Green in this category.

02-23-2007, 11:38 PM
that was a very interesting link to the thread you gave. (Too bad i could not respond to some of the comments on there!)
All i was saying is, this is reality. Celebrities DO get mobbed, like it or not, and it would cause a big disruption for them and us if they were just walking around like the rest of us. (Obviously depending on who the celeb. is; wether they are very famous/recognizable/current would be a big factor in how big a distrubance that could be. )

I've heard that anyone can pay for a special guide, at the rate of about $100 an hour- but that was a few years ago, it probably cost more now.

I went to the Magic Kingdom sometime in the late '90s (can't remember which year) and the cast of the TV Sitcom Step by Step was in the park filming a Disney themed episode. We saw some of the characters, and even got to walk by in a crowd scene. I never saw the episode though, so I don't know if I made it to TV

I haven't thought about it before but we've had a few "run-ins" as it were:

Michael J. Fox in front of the GMR at MGM.

Mandy Moore going down Main Street at the MK.

Kelsey Grammar at the MK over by Splash Mountain.

Steven Tyler in the post ride area of RnR at MGM, (guess he'd just gotten off the ride...:D ).

Pagie Davis from Trading Spaces. I was walking out of AK with my family and I hear this voice say "Oh theyre so pretty" near the flamingo habitat. And Im like "That sounds like Paige." I was too shy to say anything but her husband realized that I recognized her and smiled at me (which totally made my day because hes sorta-kinda famous too).

A few months later her book came out and there was a journal entry for that day. They got to get up close to the elephants! Of course I wasnt mentioned...."some weird girl was whispering and staring at me..."

Oh yeah, and two trips later my mom and I were walking back to the Boardwalk from EPCOT and met Ernie Banks. A dream come true for my mom.

My mom and dad saw Tiger Woods at the Saratoga Springs. Well they were in the pro shop of the golf course there. He was talking to some cast members. My dad was thrilled, but wanted to leave him alone. After he left my dad asked one of the guys about him- they said that he practices there alot. He was getting ready for the British Open (I believe).:mickey:

George Lucas numerous times. It was a rumor that he was a frequent at Caseys and the Ice Cream shop. While making a stop at the Ice cream shop while working, he was waiting in line. Verne Troyer, Mini me, In the tunnel. Michael Jackson. A couple of N'Syncers. And the Bucs, when they won the superbowl.

While being in line at the Peter Pan ride we noticed people were looking at us and whispering. This continued for quite a while and I was about to ask what everyone was looking at when I turned around and saw John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard) and his family standing right behind us in line also.
He realized we were thinking everyone was looking at us and got a kick at my reaction.

Being from San Antonio & very proud of our good guy Spurs :number1: , its hard to mention anybody else.....but.... Since you asked.....

At WDW, we were in tomorrowland taking our obligatory first day ride the PeopleMover & we look down & low & behold we see this "crowd" of folks sorrounding this really BIG guy. When we got of the attraction & were heading by the speedway, we heard another guest say that was Shaq of the Lakers.

:secret: The ABSOLUTELY hilarious part of it is we had just arrivied from SA that day in ALL our SPURS gear (jerseys, tees, etc) ...and we were still wearing it in the Parks. The Spurs had knocked the Lakers out of the playoffs a round earlier.

My KIDS wanted to go show Shaq our jerseys etc...but good sense prevailed.

We saw him one more time that way, between the transition from Haunted Mansion area & Fantasy Land....so funny to see this huge crowd of "normal" sized people sorrounding this HUGE TALL guy.

Now....How do I go about meeting Captain Jack????? :D Just don't tell hubby.. :secret:

When Dh and I were at the Disney MGM studios back in May 2002, we went to see the Disney Playhouse Live On Stage. There was a handsome guy sitting right in front of us with a very pretty girl holding a 1-2 year old boy. People kept handing him autograph books the entire time and he kept signing them and passing them back. He kept looking at us as if to say "you don't know who I am?". This went on the entire show. After the show let out, we saw him, the girl, and the toddler again outside walking with a very well built man (bodyguard). People kept staring at him and snapping pictures. We felt kind of bad for him that he couldn't enjoy his vacation. He kept looking at us still surprised we didn't know who he was. We figured, he must be a local celebrity from Florida. A few weeks later I turned on the tv to a baseball game and instantly saw the guy on tv! I called DH and said "Isn't that the guy we saw everyone aggravating at MGM? Dh said yes, it sure is. Call me an idiot, but I was one of the people who didn't know what Derek Jeter looked like. On top of that, my co-worker was in love with him and was furious with me when she found out I was so close to him and didn't get a picture. Guess I need to watch more sports!

Years ago, the Disney / MGM Studios had a program called "Star of the Day" or something like that. They hosted celebrities, who rode in a short parade down Sunset Blvd. We saw MANY stars like this - including Michael J. Fox, Patty Duke (please tell me somebody out there knows who Patty Duke is). Annette Funicello (PLEASE PLEASE tell me you ALL know who that is). Lots of minor TV stars. The biggest one we saw was HARRISON FORD. We even saw him put his handprints in the cement in front of the Chinese Theater. He had just gotten a private ride on The Great Movie Ride (to check out his own AudioAnimatronic). THRILLING!

I saw Kenny Baker (R2D2) in MGM studios, but that during Star Wars weekend and he had a little set up and stuff, but it was still cool. And when I was younger Princess Diana and the boys were in Epcot. We must have been hitting the wrong rides at the wrong time 'cause they would "close" the ride and say it was down for maintence. They must of led her around backstage 'cause we never got to see her face.

As a child my father managed a movie theatre in Tampa. Occasionally he would meet with an actor who was in the latest movie. One actor was a gentleman named Harold Sakata, better known as "Odd Job" in the movie "Goldfinger". My family and I escorted him to MK, and it was great fun getting attention from the other guests as they recognized him!

I was just there for ESPN the Weekend and since the place was crawling with athletes I met a ton of famous people! :) Including my favs Richard Seymour and Adam Vinatieri!!!! And someone posted about how they dont get mobbed. Surprisingly when I was there a lot pf people didnt realize there was a celebrity walking past them. WE saw countless athletes just walk down the middle of the street and no one would even look at them. The only way people would know..was a) if you were like my brother and know possibly everything about sports and know what all the guys/girls look like or b) there was a mob of people around them

it was quite fun though. We also have seen Drew Carey at AK when it first opened in '98 :) it is quite exciting though!

We has 2 sightings, both a long time ago probably the late 80s or early 90s.

The first time we were getting off the tram from the parking lot to the gate at EPCOT and I notice that the man that was sitting next to my wife for the entire ride was Freeman McNeil who at the time was a running back for the New York Jets. He was with his family.

The second was in a small shop on Main Street, near Town Hall. It was just around closing time and the shop was relatively empty. A cast member walks in wearing an outfit that kinda looked like the "Small World" uniform. With her is a man and a woman. The woman was wearing a baseball cap and dark sunglasses (it was nighttime). You can see that the cast member was acting as a guide. The couple shopped as the CM waited by the door. I recognized the woman as Gena Davis. I walked up to their guide very discretely and asked if that was Gena Davis, and she confirmed my suspicion. I took one more quick glance and let them be.

In May 2004 we were staying at the Disney Beach Club Resort. One morning during breakfast at the Cape May Cafe, we noticed Mariah Carey sitting at a table next to us with several young kids and personal body guards. Whe was gorgeous (I'm keeping the post G-rated), and dressed in a swimsuit bikini with a see-thru robe. After breakfast she signed autographs and talked briefly with other guests in the lobby before leaving the resort in a large white van. Mariah and all the kids were going to Typhoon Lagoon for the day. Many Dads were wishing they were one of the kids invited to swimming with Mariah that day!

Several years ago when eating breakfast at the Grand Floridian cafe, Oprah walked in! People just kind of smiled. The funny thing is, Minnie Mouse came walking in just a couple moments behind her...and all the kids in the restaurant screamed "Minnie!" and went running over to her with their autograph books. I hope Oprah found it amusing that there was someone in there attracting much more attention than her!:mickey:

(she might have been filming something with Regis Philbin...Live maybe...not sure...don;t remember if he was there or not...we took pics but right now Ann Jillian sticsk out in my mind.

On my last trip we were at Planet Hollywood in April 98....we saw Vanna White (who was pregnant at the time). She was there for a special presentation or something and I remember my parents slowly ordering food so we could stay longer (since we had a prime seat right in front of her) My mom took tons of pictures....we later found out that Vanna had a miscarriage and we jokingly blamed my mom for blinding her with the flash!!

Three years ago my group was leaving the Haunted Mansion when we saw a CM quite offical looking walking towards us holding an umbrella over a woman with alot of her stomach exposed. I had my young children with me at the time and thought "that's not appropriate for Disney" and there was a guy covered in tattoes walking with her. As they got closer I thought "Geez, could she at least smile!" and as we all walked right past her we suddenly recognized her. It was the singer Pink. I had to practically hold back my two younger sister-in-laws from charging at her for autographs. I know it was exciting to see her but I felt like she deserves a vacation too. I didn't recognize the guy til I saw pics of Corey Hart. Must be nice to get your very own CM to shield you from the sun with an umbrella as you walk:cool: My only request to future celebs that I see at Disney is "it's the happiest place on earth, people! I met Mickey and Minnie. :mickey:

While getting off Buzz Lightyear Space Spin and looking at the pictures, we thought one of the men in the pictures looked remarkably like Bob Kraft. Then a VIP tour guide said, "Bob, your picture is over here." My family (being HUGE NE Pats fans) were THRILLED to have our picture taken w/ him and we still have it hanging on our refirgerator. :secret:

I literally ran into him outside a restroom in Tomorrowland. He didn't look too happy with me, and I walked quickly away. That dude is very large.

I had the same experience in 2001. He was in the Stars and Motor Cars Parade, which was no big deal, except my family sat at the very end of the parade route, and they stood beside us to watch, after their car was through. Later that day, we went to the Bakery to get a snack, and he and his entourage literally ran into us, trying to get through a back entrance. He didn't seem to mind, but his bodyguards weren't happy that I was standing in their way.... Not that it should be a problem for a man twice my size!

In December of 2005, we were in line for the Winnie the Pooh ride, when it was our turn to board they stopped us and had a group of people come up the exit ramp. I thought it was a handicapped person so I paid no attention but then I noticed some men dressed in suits waiting for them at the end of the ride. When we were exiting the ride I noticed that the girl sitting in front of us on the ride was Kelly Preston. I told my husband, look its Kelly Preston and he said whos that!! I said John Travolta's wife, he was like no its not. Wouldnt you know John Travolta was standing right next to us the whole time!

In May 2006, while SWW was going on, we saw Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca):chewy: in England in the World Showcase. He had done appearances the previous weekend, and was being escorted by a CM. My daughter and her friend about passed out, but were too scared to go talk to him or ask for a picture. Now if it had been George Lucas, they probably would have grabbed onto his legs until he gave them Anakin's (Hayden Christensen's) address and phone number. :darth:

We went in FEB 2007, and ran into DANA CARVEY from SNL.

As we were waiting in line for TT at EPCOT we spotted him ahead of us. Of course he was wearing sunglasses/hat/jacket. After we got off the ride we bumped into him at the car show area. He stopped for a pic, and took off his hat and glasses. Dana was surprised that we recognized him. He was very nice, and made our trip even more memorable.

My fiancee and I were having dinner at Wolfgang Puck Cafe on a Friday night in June and Michael J. Fox and his family came in and sat at a table behind us.
I don't know if we were the only ones to recognize him or not, but nobody bothered him in the restaurant and we saw him again about an hour later walking right down the middle of Downtown Disney before ducking into Disney Quest with his kids.
I wanted to take a picture of him, but my fiancee said he was on vacation with his family so leave him alone.
It was cool to see him just being himself hanging out and enjoying the night. The two big Disney guides he had with him were making sure of that.

When my wife and her friends were in Disney many years ago, her friends said, while they were sitting on a bench at Downtown Disney, "there goes Cinderella." My wife didn't even look up from what she was reading and said, "ok, so this is Disney."

What she didn't realize is that it was the washed-up 80s group Cinderella walking by as they had a concert later that night at the House of Blues.

We were down in December '06 and spending the night at Epcot. Just before the Christmas Illuminations, we noticed a really tall guy walking by us. It was Bill Walton. He wasn't surrounded by a lot of people. I don't think anyone else really even knew who he was. They were all too busy fighting for a good spot to view illuminations. We thought about asking him for a picture, but he looked like he was in a hurry.

Cobin Bleu bumped into me while walking in WS back at the end of April. I did not realize it was him because I was looking the other way. All of a sudden everyone started running at me and taking my picture. I thought "Humm why is everyone taking my picture"? Then he went into a gated off area and security was telling people to move it along. When I looked over to see what was going on I could see the top of his head. DH said "I think that was that kid the girls watch on the Disney Channel all the time. The next gift shop we went into his picture was on a T-shirt and DH said "that is the guy right there that bumped in to you". I sure would like to have copies of all those pictures I was in with him.
Then DH was in the gym at the AKL early one morning on the same trip and Zack Efron was working out next to him. Needless to say our DD's were very upset that we had gone without them on that short trip. I think that all the kids from the Disney Channel were there doing some kind of Disney games or something.

:ditto: :D

I met Donald Duck and Goofy. Real movie stars. Did talk to donald about the Donald Duck Club, he did like the idea.

The outside ones, I have seen, I leave alone. They need time off too. I wouldn't want people running up to me and asking for medical/nursing advice, etc on my vacation. So I don't do it to them. I just appreciate that they are out with the rest of us "unfamous" people instead of renting out the entire park, and shutting it down.

Whilst waiting for my Dad and sister to return from riding the Tower of Terror, my Mum and I wandered around Sunset Boulevard.
Over the other side of the road we saw a guy and a girl wandering towards the Hat. Instantly we looked at each other and asked,
"Was that Tom from Mcfly?"

Later after telling the rest of the family our news we saw Tom and his family wandering towards the Magic of Disney Animation. I couldn't help but snap a sneaky shot of him and his family. Unfortunately ones from the back and one from the side but I didn't have the nerve to interrupt his holiday.

Makes a good story to tell though!

I also spotted her on this day, only I literally ran into her. Like....not watching where I was going. And I was like why does she look familiar, and I kept wondering....and wondering....and then I was like...Oh! Mariah!

I've spotted Chris Rock at the Beach Club as well. Briefly saw Johnny, from a very long distance at Floridian. I was at the Contemporary when Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were there but I didn't get a chance to see them. Saw Michael J. Fox and his family at Fantasmic. I've also spotted (and this makes me happy) Scott McNeil!!!!!! He's a voice actor for various anime and television series and my ultimate favorite VA. He was suprised I actually knew who he was and he was in front of me at Splash Mtn.

I'm not one to get excited at celebrities. I know they are people too, and they want to enjoy their vacations. But I will talk to them if it's not bothering them.

Two or three years ago, we were at the face painting tent at ToonTown, We heard some commotion and saw people pointing at someone. In a related matter (and I apologize for getting slightly off topic), Keanu Reeves was sitting in front of us at the Nebraska-USC game last weekend in Lincoln. He had a full beard and his hat pulled down low and most people didn't recognize him for awhile. He was very quiet but very polite. I was in Animal Kingdom the day before Super Soap was to start and found myself in a food line in front of Ingo Rademacher (General Hospital). He was wearing a knit cap & sunglasses and it seemed obvious that he was trying not to be noticed. I did not approach him feeling that this was the purpose of Super Soap and I would get my chance then. I took SOOOO much grief from DH (soon to be ex-DH) for not trying to talk to him. I was there for work and every morning I went to the fitness center and Mary Lou Retton was there. I ran into her every morning, usually it was just the two of us. I didn't bother her (I wouldn't interrupt anyones workout) other than to say good morning etc

On my last day we both went for the same machine and I backed off and motioned her to go ahead. She thanked me and I could not resist and said "God bless us, every one"

She laughed and told me that was the first Scrooged reference she'd gotten and appreciated it. I told her I loved the movie and felt she carried Bill Murraya. We both had a laugh and went back to our workout.

Several people have mentioned seeing Ron Jeremy at the parks. I think I did, too. Me and my brother were walking off Splash Mountain in 2000 and we thought we saw Ron walking towards it. He had a good-looking woman with him. We looked at him and would've gone up to him, but I was 17 then and my brother was 15 then, so it probably would've thrown him off. We just looked at him, he smiled at us and gestured to the woman next to him.

I'll be 25 when we take our next trip. If I see him there, I think I might want to ask him for his autograph, being totally discreet, of course.

OMG! It SURE DID make it to TV - OMG, I LOVED the nights of TGIF when they would take a trip to WDW! I rememeber Family Matters, Step by Step, Sabrina the Teenage Witch & Full House all doing episodes of it, Oh, and RoseAnn too, but that wasn't a TGIF show.
