We are traveling May 6 - 13 and we have not received our luggage tags for Magical Express yet. I know the last I had seen on this wonderful website was that they were misprinted and going to be FEDEX out. Any word on when or if that has been done? Getting a little anxious about this since our trip is 9 days away.

Thanks!
Heidi

Nanc,

I did finally get my travel documents. US Postal Service mix up. Probably went around the world before it was delivered correctly. Thanks for asking. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who hasn't received my tags. I'm such a worry wart.

Thanks again for your info.

I'm leaving May 12 and I haven't received my tags from Magic Express. I won't panic until May 7. ;)

Well, we're leaving on the 7th, preparing to do the single-digit dance. Except: we haven't received our tags yet, either. Spoke with CRO Monday, who swore by all things holy, they were Fedex'd on Friday. Today, again, nada.

We were also told that they were FEDEX'd on Friday and could expect delivery no later than Mon/Tues. Today (Wed), nothing. graemlins/shakehead.gif

Still hoping they come.........In this area home delivery is until 6pm.

Can I kill someone yet?!!!!!1

This was my most recent email rec'd from Disney. Copied and pasted in it's entirety:

Nanc, we are re-printing all transfer vouchers for arrivals May 5-24 beginning tomorrow, and FEDEX them out to the agents, so look for them. A D-Mail extra is going out tonight concerning this issue and a story on www.disneytravelagents.com (http://www.disneytravelagents.com) as well, so I hope it all works out fine for you and your clients.

I do not mean to sound critical, but I honestly do not know why everyone is worrying. Disney is a huge company and will do what it takes to get everything squared away. My parents leave May 18th and we're not worried a bit.

Disney has promoted this extensively, but unfortunately doesn't seem to have their ducks in a row yet. Between this and the Disney Dining Experience problems, I'm a little disappointed in their customer service at the start of the Happiest Celebration on Earth.

I'm using Magical Express in October, and am glad there is the time for all the kinks to be worked out before then.

Hang in there, Nanci!!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I got an e-mail from Magical Journeys and they aren't going to have any luggage tags sent for my May 12th trip. The e-mail says if I want to take advantage of the transportation I need to take my luggage to the Magical Express Welcome Center at the airport and have the bags tagged for the resort there.

Is anyone else planning to do this? Hope my bags end up in the right place since I will only be at WDW for 2 days.

 :(

I just want to voice my frustration as well....we are traveling May 7....NO TAGS.
I specifically booked this trip at this time FOR THIS SERVICE!!!!!
I am extremely upset that this has happened and I'm having a hard time staying optimistic.

First...what is the "single digit dance"?

Second....no, I would not be worried if I were leaving on May 18....but I'm not...I'm leaving on May 7. That's a different story.

Yes...Disney is a big company...but they should have had this under control a LONG time ago. I, too am very disappointed and am already drafting the letter for when I return.

I hope you get your tags soon, Julie. It has got to be frustrating! :(

A little pixie dust coming everyones way for a smooth magical express experience.

it is moments like this that I am soooooooooooo happy to live only 2 hours from Disney! I am so sorry that you are all having so much trouble getting your tags. Just remember to pack lots of underwear in your carry on!

I have sent an email to WDW about this service. I have requested that they compensate my family for making other arrangements with another transportation company. I am very disappointed about this news.I refuse to go to the WDW Welcome Centre at the airport and tag luggage along with who knows another 100 guests awaiting transportation to our resorts!!!!

Since I started this post I thought I would let everyone know some Good News FINALLY!

I received my luggage tags last night for my trip on the 6th. graemlins/muscles.gif graemlins/clappy.gif

They didn't include my return flight information but was told it is because I'm not flying a "participating airline" and I just need to show the enclosed vouchers to board the bus at my resort.

Hang in there, hopefully the rest are on their way.

Nanc, seems everyone is getting a different story on this. Hope it all goes smoothly for those of us traveling at the very beginning of this service.

For those of you that have received the correct luggage tags, did you get them from your travel agency or directly from Disney?

We leave on May 5. There are still a few days to hope, but I'm getting a little worried just the same!

Jarvo - congrats! How many tags did your receive per person?

we are using Southwest & they are also not particpating...so I guess for the return trip I'll have to do the same thing you are doing.

I received my tags from my travel agent (sorry MJ, but she's a good friend of the family). We received two tags per person in our party. We even received 2 for my 2 yr old who we are not technically paying anything for! For a total of 8.

qv09vvp67 - I am flying Southwest as well. We were told that the vouchers would give us the access to the ME bus at the resort and that there would be plenty of assistance (I'm assuming Bell Hops) for our luggage once we arrived at MCO.

I'm going May 12 and have not received my tags or any information on Magical Express. Since my luggage will be carry-on only (no checked bags), I'm wondering if I can just go to the bus and get on without all the hoo-ha with the bags?

It would make me feel much better if I got some kind of confirmation that I have a reservation to be picked up at the airport - and where to board the bus...

Granny, if you have no luggage to claim, head directly to the Welcome Center and they will check your name off the list and place you on a bus.

Just rec'd this from Disney Rep:

Nanc, we will have the DME representative in the Main Terminal, so many in Navy uniforms with white Mickey hands that it will be hard to miss them. They will be escorting them down to the Welcome Center, taking all baggage claim information, getting their bags from baggage claim and getting them on the buses with their bags and off to the resort. Just an FYI. The re-printing is for arrivals May 5-24, with the hopes all is smooth by the 24, and the system works correctly, with these vouchers arriving 21 days out.

Hope that helps, and again, so sorry for all of this.

Thanks, Nanci. So, for arrivals on the 5th who haven't yet received tags (me), should we just abandon all hope and resign ourselves to schlepping our own luggage through MCO? (There are worse fates, to be sure. I find this whole thing more amusing than distressing, really.)

Tink1
04-28-2005, 04:54 PM
I will be schleping on the 3rd as well! Actually, I am HOPING that they will have CM's there with porters to help you schlep. It would be the least they could do.

I will call one of the MJ agents from MCO on the 3rd and report what is happening so she can post what I experienced

You have a friend on the inside ;) I'll help with your bags.
What time are you arriving? Maybe we'll run into each other. I'm the only Jeanne in buses.

It's going to have be on the 3rd though, after reading this post I'm calling sick on the 5th

Well hello all! So funny that I thought I was the only one to be having this problem. Even though I know this is a new program and it is just not fine tuned yet. I should have known.
I am flying out on the 7th of May.

graemlins/clappy.gif single digits... 8 days ... graemlins/clappy.gif

Still have no tags yet. My travel agent has called and checked, only to hear a recording that states,
"If you do not recieve your lugged tags before you depart, report to the Magical Express counter at MCO, once you arrive and take it from there"

Well ok, not particularly a quote, but the main jist. So I guess once we arrive, we will be heading down to baggage claim to pick up our bags first. Then lug them to the counter. Honestly after that, I would just rather take my luggage with me and check myself in at the hotel with it in hand.

I understand that this is a new offering and they just don't have it all together yet, but it is a reall inconvenience when you are sold on the idea, and then they can't deliver on it.

Hopefully we won't encounter these problems after we arrive.

AMEN!!! We are utterly disappointed, too...we planned our trip specifically for this service. Wanted to be there THIS week, but waited until the 7th.
I'm not looking foward to the whole airport thing, either. I just picture standing at a desk with 100's of other frustrated travelers for hours on end...when all we want to do is GET TO THE PARK!!!!
I feel your pain. Personally, I think this is inexcusable on disney's part....maybe they should discount our rooms!!!!!

I also booked this service because it looked too good to be true. As far as I'm concerned, if this thing turns into a huge mess, I'm going to the top to get monetary compensation. No vouchers for me. I can only afford one trip of a lifetime with my family. I'm not spending $10,000 and have to worry when I'm going to arrive at my resort and tag my bags along with another 100 people at the airport and hope for the best. I have booked a town car just incase I hear the horror stories coming in. Thank god we don't leave until the middle of May and have time to hear responses from people who have just used this service. I'm hoping the least they can do is reimburse people who have booked town cars to get themselves to the resorts in a timely manner if things don't work out. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!!

I'm one of the lucky few who have recieved my tags. I am wondering if there will be a delay on getting to the resort due to the mix up and everyone else not having there tags. I guess I should not complain, at least I do not have to carry my own luggage. 9 more days!!

Hey guys! I know you are worried, but remember--you are going on vacation.

I worked for Disney for years and I can promise you that, yes, there will be some bumps in the road for ME. But, as a former Guest Relations hostess, Disney prides itself on exceeding guest expectations. That is why people go back again and again and again. There will be cast members all over MCO, I am sure, and they will be there to specifically make sure you have a great vacation. And, if there are serious problems, you can be sure that there will be contingency plans for those.

Don't start out with such a grumpy face, try and be positive and you can be sure you will have a better experience as will everyone else traveling with you. And remember, if there is a challenge while you are there, #1 this is a FREE service they are providing for you and #2 you gather a lot more bees with honey than you do with vinegar.

Hopefully she'll have good things to report upon her return.

If this will ease the worry for some...

My HS sent 280+ kids and chaperones to WDW for a music event last week, and were a test case for the ME. They were met by the aforementioned reps on navy blazers with Mickey hands, and walked straight onto busses. All were told by trip leaders to quickly dump their carry-ons in their rooms and head to the MK.

Upon arriving back at the All-Star Music later that night, they discovered exactly TWO missing bags out of 500+ that were transfered (kids had a suitcase and a garment bag with their band uniform). Both bags had been placed in the wrong room, and were quickly re-located.

Their luggage tags arrived in bulk about a week before departure, and they also had a small yellow ribbon to attach to each bag. A little trickier on the way home as most or all could not check bags at the hotel, but the kids and adults I spoke to were very happy with the service.

If you don't get the tags, who doesn't think that Disney will bend over backwards to take special care of you when you arrive? tongue.gif
