I had a vacation planned for this upcoming February, but with all the economic uncertainty, coupled with the new Genie system still working the bugs out, I decided to cancel my trip last night. Maybe I’ll go next summer.

It's always a bummer when you have to cancel a trip, but it is completely understandable under the circumstances.

It is always hard to cancel a trip!

I'm looking forward to a trip next summer too. :)

Have to admit it's getting harder and harder to plan a vacation. There are just so many complications and variables. It sort of takes the fun out of things - especially if you aren't a huge planner to begin with.

Hope you make it this summer instead.

Over the past 2 years we've postponed our trip to WDW 3 times now! Next scheduled trip is for February, 2022 but having second thoughts!

Also, with all the changes taking place at the parks I'm not sure it's going to be fun anymore! I am afraid the magic will be gone.

Just returned from a one week trip to WDW. During this trip we actually used the Genie plus and lightning lane purchase options. I found the tip board and app itself pretty useless as far as making recommendations or alerting me to shorter line rides or other things I may be interested in. Using the app to book fastpasses (sorry I like the term better) was pretty easy but I am still a little sore that it costs money to do so when it was free. Booking a lightning lane was also easy but again....paying more to do something that was previously free is upsetting. One thing I also do not like is that you do not have to be in the park in order to book a fastpass. For instance....we have tickets that do not expire until December 15th. We returned home on December 11th. I can still make a park reservation and reserve fastpasses even though I am in Buffalo, NY and not anywhere near the WDW resort. It just seems silly to me that you can reserve a spot for a ride when you are not even in the Park.

I am happy to answer any questions others may have. Overall though it is better than the fastpass plus disaster but still not nearly as good as it used to be and...at a higher cost. Seems about right for the current Corporate Disney mentality.

Gone are the days when Eisner wanted every family in America to be able to afford the Disney experience. Inflation certainly isn't helping matters. I've said it before, I guess you can't blame Disney when things like a concert or trip to a professional sporting event cost a small fortune. However it looks like Disney is becoming a premium destination. Unfortunately, Chapek is too stingy with the bottom line to make it feel luxe. We'll still go with DVC points, maybe just not as often.
