As updated on the Walt Disney World website: “Temperature Screenings: Since reopening, we have considered guidance from public health authorities, government agencies, and our own team of health and safety experts as we assess and update health and safety measures to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. As this guidance continues to evolve, and with the support of local health and government officials, we are making some additional adjustments. Following the advice of the CDC and our local health officials, we will phase out onsite temperature screenings at Walt Disney World Resort for Cast Members beginning May 8 and Guests on May 16. We will continue to follow the guidance of health and safety leaders going forward and most importantly encourage people to get vaccinated.

Happy to see it and things to come to open the parks as before.:mickey:

This along with the restoration of the College Program all lead to more normal times ahead. Good news!

I'm no scientist, but my guess is that as outdoor temps rise then the ability for one's internal temp to be closer to what could be considered a fever would also rise. So my guess is that Disney is preemptively doing this as to avoid shouting matches over temps as Florida hits its stride on warmer temps this summer.

We are just over a month from our first visit since 2018. I would be happy if they allowed us to walk around outdoors without masks. I wouldn't mind wearing masks while on attractions or while in queue, but outdoors in Florida in June...yikes!

I'm assuming Disney uses the "point and shoot" type thermometers. Those aren't very effective when people are sweating. That could be another issue they were thinking about.

They did temp checks last year, in the Florida summer, and there were no issues... Don't think this year would be any different...

With that said, temp checks were always suspect anyway... Someone could be asymptomatic and not have a fever, but could still be positive for Covid... I went to Atlantic City this weekend for the first in forever (sorry couldn't resist), and before entering the casino hotel, they were taking temps via the wrist... Then the restaurant we ate at took our temp before letting us in... I laughed cause I know that did absolutely nothing with helping to slow the spread... It is a feel good move to make people feel a sense of security, when in reality, temp check is flawed...

I will be in WDW in October, and while I held back going last year when they reopened, I am so ready to get back... I will wear my mask if required and not complain about it even though I am fully vaxxed... I'm just glad I won't be delayed entering the park with a temp check that was useless...

These are all supposed security measures. Measuring the temperature on the wrist is nonsense. Better to have high-quality ventilation or limited attendance.

Trust me, I know what they were... It was more to make guests feel comfortable, to show Disney was taking precautions... And while Disney did do a fantastic job, and they did, temperature checks were nothing more than feel good actions...
