Best Room for a Family of 5

It looks like after 8 years, I might be able to get to WDW in January. YAY! Since our last trip, we have gone from a family of 4 to 5, and everyone is BIG. So we're looking for a good place to stay for about 5 or 6 nights.

I see that CBR and POR (I remember the abbreviations!) has a Murphy bed. How are those? Do the rooms feel too cramped for a family with 2 teenagers? They seem to fit into my price range the best. But Other rooms may be better. Let me know!

I agree, the murphy beds at POR are not large, and they likely will be too small. When we've had extra people with us we've rented a cabin at Fort Wilderness or even stayed at Old Key West 1 bedroom (once on a good Disney deal and once renting points).

We have the same party of five challenges whether it's Disney or not. We would always have to either find a hotel that allowed a cot or upgrade to a suite. It's not cheap and neither are your Disney solutions. You might think it gets easier when they grow up and/or move out but it doesn't. You can do POR at Texas211 notes, but we ended up moving from mods to deluxe resorts with way more options. We finally bit the bullet and bought into DVC that gives you way more options. Or problem is that instead of needed a 2BR unit, we're now eyeing 3BR options with friends coming along. Just wait until the spouses and grandchildren enter the picture!

Have you looked at the family suites at Art of Animation? The cabins at Ft Wilderness may be a good option also. You can rent DVC points to get a 1 or 2 bedroom villa for cheaper than Disney offers them.

Zero guarantee of connecting or adjoining rooms. Must have at least one 18 year old in each room. I’d rent DVC points for a 5 person studio...yeah, yeah it’s tight, but who’s paying...😂

We are a family of five who usually goes to POR, but our *favorite* place to stay is Beach Club. It's expensive. But we were comfortable, the pool is AMAZING, The Boardwalk is a great place to spend the evening, and we loved being able to just walk into Epcot whenever we wanted (we had APs) for gelato or to watch the fireworks. It's been years, but our kids still rate this as their favorite Disney vacation ever.
