View Full Version : Booking thru a Conference - Can't get room confirmation #

An odd question. There is a conference that I am attending in April (assuming the CaronaVirus doesn't cancel it) where there were room blocks at Disney Resorts set aside for conference attendees. The good news, I'm staying in BC, first time in any Deluxe Resort for me:thumbsup: for $250 a night. Bad news, since I am booking thru the conference website I only get a reservation # from them, it is not one that Disney recognizes when I log on and try to link up my reservation. After a few calls I learned that the conference doesn't release its reservations to Disney until about 3 weeks prior to the event, at which time I should get a valid confirmation #. Problem is, without the valid confirmation # I can't book fast passes 60 days out for the one or two days I intend to do parks on my own.

I did call Disney group sales, didn't really make any headway, although I may try again. Any thoughts on how to make this work? If I order my tickets now, I'm guessing I can do FF 30 days out, but would rather try for the 60 day mark.

TIA

Probably can’t. You are buying conference tickets not regular park tickets and everything depends on the agreement the conference has with Disney. Only the conference organizers can help you and if they say 3 weeks then it’s 3 weeks.

I'm pretty sure you are stuck as I believe I had the same issue before...

I have had the same issue with multiple conferences and special events I have attended. The best you can do is go ahead and buy your tickets, link them to your MDE account and do FP's at 30 days. This is some of the side effects of the complications associated with FP+ and all the prescheduling. It seems illogical for Disney to continue to ignore this problem because I thought the whole point of hosting these events and giving special rates/pricing to attendees was to draw in potential new visitors that will come back for future vacations.

Yeah. In my case I'm going solo, but if the timing would have been different I certainly would have looked at bringing down the family, especially with the room already covered. But with the new rides at DHS, I doubt I'll be snagging any prime FP at the 30 day mark. Now with the Coronavirus, my travel could be in jeopardy, so debating whether to buy the tix in advance. There is a slight discount buying them thru the conference, including the ability to get a half day rate and a twilight rate, but almost just as cheap to buy a discounted two day ticket.
